Ok, so I posted a msg last week asking if others feel their stereo has too much static on FM stations. Today, I pulled the antenna connector off the read window (leaving the front window antenna connected) and noticed no difference in reception - not bad reception, just a fair amount of static.
Would anyone else mind doing this test, unplugging the rear antenna connection and check their FM reception? Do you hear noticable difference in reception quality? Should I pay to have this checked out?
Maybe I'm a bit out of touch but thought the radio antenna was solely in the windshield. Thought the connections on the rear window were window defrost only. My FM reception is fine. Just for fun you might pull the front connector and hook up an FM antenna from you home stereo to see if there is any difference. Not tried this but suspect it could work.
You running the OE radio or an aftermarket one? The car does have 2 antennas, one in the front one in the rear window. This is known as diversity reception, it will switch to whichever one has the stronger signal. The box is right below the seat belt retractor on the driver side on the lower B pillar.

Any idea how to pop-off the plasic panels over the B-pillar? Looks like there's plastic rivots holding them in place.

I don't notice a difference with the rear defogger on. My windows are not tinted either. . . Shouldn't I hear a difference in clarity and reception when unplugging the rear window antenna connection? Would someone mind trying it in their vette and let me know?
