I bought a used 99 Coupe. When I popped open the hood, noticed the hood liner was eaten out about 4 inches in a round circle. Its not eaten all the way through, but like a mouse has eaten part of it. I also noticed some twigs and things that a mouse was using to build a home for himself under the hood. When I questioned the original ower (at the time), he said the car was parked outside and a mouse did live there. Well good thing is he didn't chew any wires. But how do I fix this hood liner now. Its practically brand new, expect for that flaw I mentioned. So don't wanna waste $$ on a new hood liner, but I don't like how it looks.. Any ideas? Spray paint maybe..? What else?
I have a hood liner if you want to get another one. I'll try to take it off my old hood soon. It's in fair condition, but it doesn't have any holes in it.

New hoodliners are about $85-90. I'd just get a new one to make it look the best. If you want to spice up your engine bay, get one from PaulaH and have her do a custom paint for your. You'll love the looks.

Generous offer!! You have to love this place. This kind of thing happens all the time.
If there was a mouse living in there, the person who owned it before you obviously didn't care too much about the car. I would see if he was hiding anything else like never changing the oil. Mice don't just crawl up in an engine to hang out the car must have been sitting for a LOOOOONNNNG time.

Well I'm the 3rd owner. 2nd owner had it for only 3-4 months, never changed oil. I talked to the 1st owner, he had changed the oil only once in car's lifetime. It had 14K miles when I bought it. 1st owner said the factory oil was good for 7500 miles, and then he changed it.
Finally when I bought the car at 14K miles, first thing I did was an oil change. After driving about 2700 miles (now 17K), it still cools pretty clean to me. Will change soon, when I can find the time and the way to get underneath....BTW, I ain't looking to spend 100 buck on a liner, not just yet. I'd rather put that toward a cold air intake.
Check your local dealer for a liner. It comes in a box the size of the liner as it can't be folded. Shipping would be high due to its size. I think I was quoted $65 for a new liner last year at the dealer. Don't quote me on the price I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Heck I didn't sleep.
