A couple of years ago, I remember reading a thread showing a navigation system installed in the dash of a C5. I beleive that the owner was known as nasblue. He owned a nassau blue coupe and sold painted engine components to forum members. As I recall the installation involved relocating the AC controls to the ash tray location and enlarging the radio opening. It really looked factory. Does anyone else recall this or have you done something similar? I am thinking of attempting this mod and would like to know what to expect before jumping into it.
In dash, you want either the the Alpine NAV 200 or the Pioneer AVIC-N1. My preference is the Pioneer, but only slightly. Between those two, it would come down to price for me.
I guess I should have mentioned I have the Pioneer AVIC-N1 installed I have it exactly where the old unit came out. Awesome unit. Don't begrudge the 2k cost at all. I would be real careful before I let anyone start sawing away at my dash. Could end up being very unhappy and after it is done what are you gonna do?
