Well I don't believe I was following too closely. In fact, according to my agent and claims adjuster, I will NOT be at fault. The reason being, I was stopped, and then forced into the guy ahead of me. So your statement of "if you EVER hit the car in front of you is 100% Your fault", is incorrect. Sorry dude. And please do NOT refer to me as "young and inexperienced", since you really don't know what you're talking about. Thanks...

Tim, Sorry you got hit. As far as having the car fixed: give Scot Baldwin a call at Fluid Tip in Torrance (310 533-4939). He has tons of experience repairing/repainting Vettes.

It's good that everyone is okay. As for the car. I agree about the insurance thing. Don't accept thier first offer, and demand original parts.
Factory parts are the best, but prepare to fight like hell to get them. Insurance companies are a load of *insert favorite phrase here* these days. You pay a ton of money to have them replace any damaged parts with plastic replicas, and heaven forbid you should have to get someone elses insurance company to pay for the damage.

Good luck with the repairs.

Not always.

If you are pushed into the car in front then it isn't your fault.

If someone recklessly pulls out in front of you and you hit him it isn't the driver's fault. I know this for a fact because it happened to me. A guy was trying to beat the traffic, pulled out in front of me without sufficient room, and I hit him. His fault and he got a reckless driving ticket.

Oh, and you may want to stop the "young and inexperienced" condescension.

How exactly do you "add distance" to the car behind you?

Especially with "even more space" given to the car in front?

Hmmm... I seem to vaguely remember learning something in law school about something called causation....

As others have said, this statement is simply not true. Most of the time, the rear-ender is at fault, but not in this case...
