I saw one on the showroom floor of Kerbecks a few years ago. I think it is an awesome color for the C5 - too bad they couldn't get the paint just right.
It was supposed to be a factory color back around... 1998 I think. There was some problem with the paint application, so they stopped producing them. Maybe someone else can elaborate more.
I've seen at least 2 of them with my own eyes. I'm not sure if it was constraints, or that they just received that few orders, but it was a rare color. I've seen Roscoe's, and I've seen one other at the 50th celebration in June of '03. The other one had cleartastic installed. I'm sure it would be a pain to match that color for touch-up paint.
I think it is an awesome color on the C5. I do wish they would have made more than 15 of them. I've seen only one at a show here in Houston. It looks so much better in person than in pictures.
I had also read some place that none of these were sold as "new" cars. I'm curious what GM really intended with these few cars - perhaps they were testing customer reaction, or trying to see if they could get the color application correct. Similar to the story with the just over 100 Copper Metalic cars made in 94, except they really tried to sell those, but had to pull the plug due to quality control problems.
Imagine trying to get a color match for a paint repair....

I never believed the color match story. GM puts out thousands of different gold and champagne colored cars and if it were a huge paint problem I am sure it could be corrected. I like the golds, fairway greens, and the purple pearl which are all rare corvette colors but they are not
for eveyone and they really dont appear to bring that much more of a premium on the car lots either.
