Valentine 1. I still have seen anything that is its equal Here is a story which will illustrate why no other radar detector compares to a V1 in one sense.
I was coming home (I live in the boondocks) around dusk one evening. My V1 went off and showed 2 bogeys in front of me. Eventually a state trooper passed me, and my directional indicator showed a bogey to the side and then behind me as he passed me, but I still showed two bogeys, one behind me now and one in front with my front directional indicator flashing (indicating the stronger signal). I kept going slow (Is there another cop in front of me?).
Within 30 seconds the second state trooper passed me and now I had an indication of 2 bogeys behind me. Before these cops were out of site they both had their victims.
With any other radar detector, I would have speeded up after the first cop passed by, thinking the beeping was from the cop who passed me, and would have got nailed. This was the first time I saw tandem cops, but the V1 did its job. No other detector gives you this kind of information. If you consider the cost of the ticket and the increase in insurance rates, the V1 is cheap compared to the other detectors.

Oh man...if you only knew what you have started!
You will get all kinds of responses and advice. The two most popular detectors are the V1 and the Escort. They are both excellent detectors, but I chose the V1. I have a neighbor who is a forum member who owns both units and finds them basically equal in their detection ability. The sole reason that he and I both prefer the V1 is the arrows. Have them save your tiny hiny once and you will love them forever.
The V1 shows you whether or not the radar is coming from the front, rear, or to the side, it also tells you which band (as does the Escort) and the strength of the signal ( as does the Escort). The arrows make such a huge difference it is hard to explain until you experience it, but now that I have them I would not give them up.
Don't let anyone fool you. There is basically little or no difference in the range of the detection, the false alarms or the accuracy...the biggest difference is the way that the Valentine integrates the arrows.
Drove my newly acquired '02 about 2 minutes before I figured out a radar detector will be the first order of business. Never had one- any suggestions?
Any radar detector you choose. Radar will only get you caught if you're not paying attention, or all alone. The signature from the Z06 is very small and makes you difficult to clock.
The important thing is to get an Escort ZR-3 Laser Shifter. Cause Johnny Law will most certainly point is hi-tech LIDAR (commonly called laser by mistake) gun at you for driving such a fancy car. Only makes sense to shoot back at him thus rendering his little toy useless. Tested and proven effective as recently as this week (a very puzzled officer looking dazed and confused at his toy as I passed - wondering why he didn't get a readout).
V1 for the best 360 degree protection with 2 antennas and arrows and a Blinder laser jammer that jams all laser guns made in the world with no error codes given to the police.
V1 here, for the last 5 years, no tickets no problems, and the arrows have paid off several times where I would have been toast without them.
Knowing where the cop is, not just that he is around lets you know if you are in danger. That, and knowing how many bogies are out there is money in the bank....

Blinder does the same thing the Escort Laser Shifter does. If you think they don't get an error code, you don't understand LIDAR guns. Blinder works very well - but they get the same E codes when it does it's job.
Which ever one of the two you pick it will surly help you keep your license, just get one, this is almost essential if you do any kind of 120 + MPR runs. It sure has more than paid for itself as far as I'm concerned
