Mine, which I bought two weeks ago today is a daily driver. My drive to work is 33 miles each way and I love it.

Default Coupe!

The new ZO6 is a coupe, probably because most people wanted the extra room and openness.
Get a coupe and add 55 HP w/mods.
Also a little suspension work.

Piece of cake, by most peoples standards, dude. Just dont go into it expecting a caddy.

Two of the major issues that Ive noticed with DDing my car:

1. Exhaust hum from the stock setup coming through the back........a partition cured this.

2. The wide tires tend to tramline a little, so pay attention to the road.

Other than that, its completely docile under all conditions (and yes, treat it with a lot of respect, particularly in the wet), and a piece of cake to put around in.

Your retired, get what you want, and enjoy the rest of your life. Permagrin is a nice way to start your retirement.

I've done plenty of commuting in my Z06. It's not as smooth and quiet as some cars, but it's by no means uncomfortable. It's got plenty of room for two, plenty of trunk space, and is as easy to drive as just about any other car I've driven. The only problem is the ever-present temptation to get on the gas and drive like an *** in the middle of rush hour traffic. Other than that it's great. So for daily driving, as long as you don't have snow to deal with it's pretty much fine. Get one and you'll like it.

You should have not problems using the Z06 as a daily driver. If you have a lot of stop and go traffic, the manual tranny may get to be a bother, but otherwise the 6-speed is a pleasure to drive. Good luck getting into a C5.

My modded 03 is a daily driver and I love it. A rear partition and some DynaMat and the Z is actually quieter in the cabin than my 99 coupe.

Very easy to to drive, in fact after a while I sort of forget what I'm driving. I need to find the red line every once in a while just to remind me what an awesome car this is.

You won't regret using it as a daily driver.

I DD my Z06, but not in the winter.

Rain or shine she's just fine; no snow, ice, and salt.

I see you live in California like myself, so I don't see why there would be a problem with a Z06 being a DD. I bought my '99 coupe new, and it has been my daily driver ever since. You'll be loving life!!

No problem, go for it. W/ the Z06 rear end gears and tranny ratio's, even in Stop & Go traffic you can usually glide through in 2nd in anything but a dead stop. Added bonus, w/ the Z06, 6th gear is very usable.

My Z was a DD for the year I had it. Only problems I had were the ricers and rustangs trying to race me everyday... Seriously, if you do heavy-duty rush hour type commuting (not your case, I guess) the constant shifting is a pain after a while. Other than that it is an easy car to drive in almost all conditions.

I bought a Z06 as a DD. It actually has a smoother ride and is more comfortable than the Nissan 350Z I had previously. If you want a Z06, get it - it makes a fine daily driver.

Exactly. I went from a 350Z to Z06 and found the Z06 to ride as well, get as good gas mileage, and have much more trunk space.

Out of the box it will work well. Eventually, you might want to consider some additional sound insulation (partition, Frost King, Dynamax, and Reflectix), but you can do as much or little of that as it suits you. I also recommend switching to Toyo Proxes TS-1s when you have to replace the tires. They are quieter and handle much better in the rain. Best of all, all these mods are explained (with pictures) on this forum.
