I have a torch red coupe and I am thinking about blacking out the "Corvette" impression in the back bumper. Has anyone done this using vinyl decals vs painting them and if so did it turn out nice and who did you buy precut letters from? Thanks.

On my pewter car, I bought some vinyl letters from Corvette Accessories Unlimited and they looked good and stayed on there very well until I replaced them with a set of the epoxy brakelight red ones from Mid-America. The epoxy ones look awesome on the car. They make them in carbon fiber, so that may be a different option than just plain black.

Black vinyl. Black in daylight and reflects at night when light hits it. Key element with vinyl is take your time to properly clean and prep the surface before application.
Use the vinyl decals. You'll like them... and black looks sharp on red. I've used vinyl decals on all three of my 'vettes and never had a problem with them sticking or coming off. I wish I could say the same for the interior decals.
I'm trying to decide what color inserts to put on the back of my Navy Blue Metallic. I'm thinking of silver/gray to match my interior. How are the "chrome" vinyl decals?
I had silver vinyl in mine for about a year, then they started to come off, so I repleaced them with black epoxy. I like the black look better, but don't like the way the epoxy sticks out. I think I'm going to get brave this weekend and paint my lower bumper black and I might try the letters at the same time.
I've got the black raised letters on my coupe. Sorry, the pic isn't the best for viewing the letters. I think that the black vinyl would look good. I like the contrast.

i have the vinyl letters from ecklers $19.99..... i don't like them...they stick out and can easily be snagged because they have square edges,,, i was trying to find a plain black set that have rounded edges but haven't yet...

You could try these. I have the same problem with my acrylic letters (see photo above). They are square edge and I get caught on them wiping and using my Cali duster on them. I am thinking about switching over to these domed letters.
You might have some of the mail order houses like "ECKLERS" or any of the many other good ones send you a catalog, the ecklers has a very large selection of them. Also as an aside, I saw that one of the forum members was selling the coolest body decals for the best price I'v seen. The problum that I have with all the apperance accesories is that in the school I went to,......... these were called ..........Identifying marks"
I have a black coupe with stainless steel type letters. I have had the vinyl letters on my previous 98 and like either one. The black letters on red is very sharp looking.
