Top was down today but it was a bit cold out so I had the heat on. At idle the charging system fault message came on very briefly. The battery is less than 2 months old and is maintained with a Battery Tender. After the message I checked the DIC voltage and it read 13.9. Could it have been a momentary loss or could it be a sign of future alternator problems?

Not necessarily a sign of future problems. I have had this same message pop up on the original alternator, but maybe twice in a couple of years. Cleared any code(s) and nothing returned. Since you live in a northern climate, it probably wouldn't hurt anything to check your grounds and battery connections as a precaution. It's probably just a sporadic glitch. HTH

Had almost the same thing last about 6 months ago. It did it about 3 times, in a two week period, then it never did it again. It would only stay on about 20 seconds right after start-uo. Never did anything to correct it, and it never came back.
Had this happen this morning. Was working on the car yesterday and had the stereo on and the doors open for awhile.
I'm wondering if the system reads the lowered battery voltage as a charging problem since the PCM monitors engine start cycle. Hmmm.....
I'm curious as well. My message came on while the heat was on with the fan blowing on high, The hardwired V-1 still on and the stereo pumping. It all happened while I was at idle pulling into the garage.
I had this happen to my car when I first got it. I put it on charge for awhile like any new battery should be. It never happened again. New batteries should be charged for a period of time before going into service. My .02

Why? Does every person that buys a battery do this...of course not, and there's no reason to on a corvette, either. If it was necessary the battery manufactures would let everyone know
