Default Performance Driving Schoool Or More Mods?

I have to decide between a two day performance driving school or an LS6 intake with coolant pipes for my 99FRC.

Where would you put your money????

If it were me, it would be driving school without a doubt. I hear it is amazing what you can learn to get the most out of your car in one of the good driving schools.

After years of riding motorcycles, about 4 years ago, I took 3 levels of Keith Codes racing school and one of Kevin Schwantz's.

Though those schools are for bikes, if I had known what a better rider they would have made me, I would have done them first and then mods...

If you plan on driving your car in a more sportful manner than a daily driver, I would definitely think the school would be better.

I hear great things about performance driving schools... if it were me, I'd definitely go with the school first, then the mods later on.

Hands down, performance driving school. IMHO you should learn what the car is all about.

I have not been yet but from books I've read there is so much to learn about driving that you don't even know what you don't know. Go to the driving school and do the mods later. Good Luck

Do the school first, then the mods. You'll be able to enjoy the mods more after learning more about driving the car.

Check if the performance driving school will get you a discount on your car insurance. I got a $38.00 savings (dunno if it is a percentage of premium or a flat rate) on my insurance for completing a defensive driving course. Insurance here is for a 6 month period, so that's a $76.00 annual savings. Not great, but I'll take it.

I hate to fly in the face of all the fellow forum members who said school, but how will you use the car? If you want to do some serious driving, track time, auto cross and the like, then go to the school. If you are a cruiser (like me) who doesn't drive competitively but likes the sound and extra boost of a few mods, then mod first. It's about your priorities.

A group of us just got back from Spring Mountain in Parump NV, wish I would have gone years ago!

Regardless of what type of driving you plan on doing, road course, auto x or just running down the highway, you'll learn a lot about your car!

Spring Mountain uses ZO6's and C6's, nothing like learning in what you have!

FRC's rule!

Well....it seems the majority are going for the school. I was leaning that way before I posted the questions. I do autocross occassionally and would like to do some lap days.

Driving school it is, mods next year.

Thanks Guys....always a good place to use as a sounding board.

If it was me, and I could do It again..... I would go to the school considering I just put on an Ls6 intake on my 99frc and LOST 3 FN' HORSEPOWER!

I would have to say learn to handle it before you made it go faster. I'm off to driving school in three weeks.
