My 04 ZO6 is bone stock (that will change soon; Doc says I cought the fever). Anyhow, I am contmplating lowering her. I had a WS6 Ram Air that was lowered 2", coupled with the FLP headers that hung below the car which added another 1" of clearance; I couldn't get over ANY speedbumps or curbs which REALLY REALLY SUCKS!!!
I have two questions:
1) Will Kooker headers run lower than the stock headers?
2) What is a good amount to lower a vette to get rid of tire well space and still be able to get over speed bumps/curbs?
Basically I would like to put in some good performace/sound headers that won't sacrifice clearance, and I also would like to get rid of some of the tire gap. Suggestions?
I have an 03 and I lowered it as far as the stock bolts would allow. Good headers will fit. I added aluminum skid rails down each side. It was very easy and I occasionally hit them. It does make the wheel wells look better. If you lower much more you will hit a lot more. You need to have the car realigned after a week of driving. Good luck.
lowered 2". Headers don't hit, The front wheelies sold by A&A help quite a bit at this level. If you don't you will scrape the front skid bars. I don't scrape the LG long tubes or the Dynamax. Both systems tuck up there pretty tight. At this level your stock shocks will bottom out, you will need a set of Konis, Motons, Penskes to go this low. The car is pretty much a dedicated track car, driven to and from the track.
The car looks Bad *** like this but, I would not do it on a daily driver, I hate the sound of the front spoiler scraping every thing. You have to drive slow over most dips in the streets. Lowering to the max on stock bolts without cutting any bushings is a very nice compormise for a daily driver. It also does not require a shock change. Try 5 turns front and rear and let it settle. You will like the look and can go back in about 30 mins if you don't like it.
