Default Throttle body coolant bypass question

I have heard you can pick up a few extra ponies bypassing the coolant around the throttle body. Is there a way to do this without buying the kit? The kit just looks like something you could find at any hardware store! Anyone have any info on this? Thanks!!

Mines in the garage, but its a Aluminum tube with serrated edge at both ends for hose engagement. Its not worth $19. You can find it on ebay for about $5. Just remove your hose, measure the ID of your hose. The tube should be about 2-3" and slightly larger OD then the hose ID. Get the thinnest wall tubing availble.

The air is in the throttle body for a split second, not nearly long enough to get heated up by the throttle body. Just a thought.

The general concensus is that the throttle body bypass really doesn't do much good. IMO, money would be better spent elsewhere.

After exhaustive research, I concluded it coukldn't possibly have any benefit whatsoever and to prove it, I bought it, fitted it and I was right. I could have shoved it up my a** and had the same power gain.

The only gains from this mod are $$$ in the pockets of those that sell it.

The biggest advantage of this mod is the ability of taking the throttle body on and off without the mess. The fluid looks like it only passes through small section of the throttle body on the lower edge. I am thinking about it only because my Shaner is coming in soon and I have to take things apart anyhow.
