chris (stangkiller) and i just just finished lowering the front of my car. i had already lowered it all the way around on stock bolts. im eventually going to get longer bolts for the rear, but decided to do the front tonight for now.....
anyways.... took out the front bolt and cut the bushings. drove the car home, and it has def. lowered some. im going to give it a few days and see how it is, but i really think ill want to go a little lower.
my question.... how much difference does it make removing the bolt completely??? doesnt seem like it would really be a big drop after removing it. right now the bolt is sitting on the last few millimeters of the bushing. removing the bolt requires something underneath the spring, so would that be the same thickness pretty much??
Any time Brian, I think this was answered recently for EG, in which you'll need to go to a coil over set up to go much lower. I'm looking forward to doing my car, as you're not much lower than me, and i still have my bushings in the car.
So another question might be was there ANY suspension changes between 99 and 01? I'm not sure if my car came with Z51 or not but would that make a difference why mine was so much lower?, I understand tire sizes are slightly different, but we're just comparing the wheel well gap.
And Brian, Thanks again for coming out, and even putting gas in my car when you went to get those tools. You're a true asset to this community!

Roger that. Removed front bolt and I can STILL fit 2 fingers between fender and tyre. So - either coilovers or +2 wheel/tyre combo. I'll probably go with the 19/20 wheels and that will fill the gap.

:
This is why I decided not to remove the bolt. Not to mention it just seems wrong to pull it out altogether...
26 1/2 Front 27 1/4 Rear with full tank
26 3/8 Front 27 Rear with almost empty tank

i did the same thing on my z by shaving the bushings, and thought about removing the bolt all together, but then you would have the spring sitting on the a-arm, and like the man above said, "it just doesn't seem right". Plus i have read here on previous threads that your shocks are made to work best at a certain height and that lowering your car that much on stock shocks might compromise your handeling. Coil overs , from what i understand is the best way to slaaam it!!!

any info, experience or advice would be great!!!
oh... and def. an EASY job!!! thanks chris!
Just don't forget the alignment...just had mine aligned today after a week and 120 miles of settling after cutting the front bushings, WOW...my specs were WAY off.

Man you must not have any steep parking lot entrances around you. Mine will hit the Rollers and even Rocker Rails as it is. I can't imagine another inch.....

I'm at 26inches even on all 4 corners with a full tank of gas. I have the frame savers and rocker rails but I never touch anywhere in CT or RI - even over sleeping policemen (speed bumps). I just approach EVERYTHING at a 45 degree angle and all is
The rubber thing touches sometimes but that is just 2inches off the ground and that's to be expected. At the lowers point, my car is exactly 4 inches off the ground. Wish I could get it down another inch, but oh well....
It just takes some getting used to but after a while it just normal. I installed Bilstein Sports tonight and the ride is MUCH better - no more bottoming out - Oh! and I have a thin but hard piece of reinforced silicone hose between my front leaf and the lower A arm.

Actually I do.. and it is a pain to drive especially with 19s and 20s here in chicagoland... but its all good... I only drive it in familiar places...
