I have one too. I like knowing that if my car gets stolen, I'll know about it sooner than later. Actually, not sure I'd want it back if it did get taken. You should try it out ... drive without the pass key and see how long it takes for you to get the call (automated). Quickest response I got was 1.5 minutes.
Your insurance company may give you a discount for having it. Mine does ... I have Farmer's.
I recently purchased an '02 coupe with Lojack already installed. It'll cost $200 to transfer it to my name, with early warning system, etc.
Should I keep it?
And are there any considerations, as far as added weight, and any possible interference with future performance mods?
I don't know where you live or if the Vette was purchased out of state. You might want to check the LoJack Coverage area. I know that service is not available in all states. But I think it is an added measure of protection. If I were in your shoes I would get it transferred.
As far as added considerations, there are none to be concerned about. Depending on how old it is you might want to have the battery replaced.
I guess it all depends on your location and the fear factor of the car being stolen. At least with this type of protection they can actually find the car. That's a big plus. Mind you as the previous post stated it depends on what they've do to your car as to whether or not you really want the car back. Post your decision.
My personal opinion? If some azzhole steals my car, I DON'T WANT IT BACK! Ever see what kind of shape a car is left in after its been stolen? Most times, it ain't pretty.
wire in your own kill switch, under dash, behind panels, cigerette light(it has to be pushed in before car will start),micro switches behind visors(push visor up to start car), etc;
i LOVE the idea of lojack -- but i have to admit i wouldnt want it back if it meant seeing it defaced/mauled/ripped/beaten and otherwise exhausted from the abuse - not to mention the potentially loss ending situation where the Insurance Co says
'replacement value of car that is missing is (eg) 25,000' - "Buuuuuuuut since your car has been found and only needs 8,000 worth of repairs we are gonna do that"
-that would just suck
to have the pain, the apply the hassle to it, then the dimished value object at the end of the exersise ... well its worth talking your insurance guy FIRST to find out exactly what they will cover in each scenario and pick the one that suits...

Contact the insurance company....see how much the discount is! I have Lojack...I like it....but probably wouldnt want my car back either....but the discount is huge!!!
Would die if it got stolen, but hope to never see it again if it does. With Lojack, they start looking instantly. If it is stolen I vote give them an hour or two to make sure they get enough time to find a lake or something.

Its a good deal, as long as you have coverage in your area. Check with Lojack and see if you are in one of their service areas. Like was mentioned above, some insurance companies give discounts also.
Most expensive cars that get stolen are only moved a short distance. If no one finds it over night, then the professional thief knows that Lojack is NOT installed, and the car is then stolen for good. With Lojack, there is a good chance you may get the car back soon and OK.
I ordered a Lojack for my car. Then I called GEICO for a discount. Nada, none, no discount offered because the car already has the factory alarm (was the answer).
What he did do was put it on a seperate schedule so that its covered if I ever lose the car permanently. No charge for that.
