Default Picked it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got my new (to me) 01 red C5.
1/ my first question to you pros out there is going through the covette Black Book and found out by extrapolation of production numbers that my car could be one of only 10 built like it that year.....is this possible??
Torch red, MM 6 speed, Glass top CC3, Z-51, 1SC, Polished wheels(QF5), Bose w/cd,
2/ My car is 4 years old and has 29,000 miles. I was thinking of flushing every single fluid. P.S, Manual Trans, Rear Diff, Brake, and dexcool, (oil change of course), AM I wasting my money???

To #1 it's possible. And #2 no it's a good use of your money. I don't know about the P.S. but others will let you know that one. The rest is a must. The Dexcool is supposed to be changed after 5 years but some here change it after 3. Brake fluid I change every year and the tranny fluid I changed at 20k and the same with the tranny. There's my .02

1) Don't know how you figured your car was only 1 of 10 built. I looked at

http://www.idavette.net/facts/2001endpro.htm

and your exterior color is the lowest number produced of all the options you list and it is the MOST popular color at 2788 produced ! What is your interior color? Torch red interior is lowest number produced at 562. You can't "extrapolate" these numbers, only go with lowest produced option.

2) Go ahead and flush them, if it makes you feel better. I hope you can do it yourself, you could be paying big bucks to get them all flushed. Be careful on rear differential, you usually have to add GM's additive. Go to synthetic on transmission (not sure if 2001 came that way).

OH, I almost forgot, WELCOME TO THE FORUM, you will love it here, and have many miles of smiles !

Good luck with you new Vette.
Follow the guide lines in your owners manual for when to change fluids.

Good Luck with the new car and welcome to the forum. I'm somewhat skeptical about your car being Torch red and being one of ten of anything. Just too popular a color and from what you listed for options, They are all the most popular. What option made you think that it was so rare? Anyway, with regard to the fluids, it can't hurt and if it gives you some piece of mind I say go for it.

To me replacing all the fluids is a must for a new, used car...

Congrats, welcome and have fun....

Only GM knows the answer to that one, and they're not telling. I'm sure that with the computer software available, it is within reason.
www.idavette.com has some info but you (unfortunately) cannot extrapolate because there isn't an even distribution of all catagories. Nice thought though.
