Default Bra for the Z???

Would you recommend buying one just for traveling long distances? I'll be driving from NJ to Florida in August....if so, how much are they and any good vendors for them? Thanks again...

I just bought the GM bra from GM parts direct. It was like $78.00 with shipping. I havent put it on yet but it seems like a decent bra and you really can't beat the price.

Be careful......
If the bra dosen't fit, it can cause worse damage than nothing at all!

I always thought that LE BRA was a good brand for fit...

If money is no object look into the Speed Lingerie nose mask made in Mountain View, CA. I think they are a vendor here but just about every corvette parts place sells them. You can get them in just about any color. They are heavy, won't scratch or rub the paint and really will hold tight at 150mph as advertised. Its been a toss up here for awhile whether you need to use one or not(fading and so forth). I've been happy with mine. I use it during HPDE's and other track events and its prevented more than a few scratches. Didn't keep the fender from breaking when I hit the turn three wall at Infineon last year but the paint was still cool underneath

I bought the "speedo" bra. Well, it looks like a speedo. It covers the entire front of the car and is made of stretchy nylon polyester stuff. Installs in less than two minutes and can be stored in a bag the size of 16oz. bottle. Keeps the bugs off the front and is hand washable, dries quickly.

If you're looking to protection from rocks and large objects, this one won't help you. It's better suited for bugs and such.

I am actually just looking for something for a road trip, not to wear all the time. Mainly for bugs and stuff....highway elements basically...

I got mine for trips only and the bugs encountered. Ecklers has it in several colors, but black would look good on your blue car. I saw a siver one on a blue car and it looked good too.

I got one from C5 creations that made from some type of soft stretch material, you can get it the same color as your car and fits like a glove, I also got the mirror covers. It's basically for keeping the summer bugs off the front of my car while I'm on my way to Pepple Beach and the Vintage car races in August.

I've used the GM Bra on four C5s ( 04-Z06 now) and never have had any rub or scuff marks,I would take it off if it gets wet, always check or clean the inside flannel before installing and have a good wax or polish on the front. After you install the GM bra a couple times you can install it in 5-10 min.

I went with "Clearshield" from 3M for the front of the car and mirrors. I had a "Clearshield" rep install it and it looks great. You can't see it until you look real close and all the bugs just wash off.

You can find a rep on their web site in your area.

That's the one. I got mine in Primm this month. Don't know if I'll bring the Vette or Cobra to the races in August. Chaparral is the marque and I hope the rest of the Can-Am cars show up.

DO NOT buy a Le Bra! They are cheap crap! I had one years ago for a (I hate to admit it, a Mustang). I removed it and cleaned it and waxed the car religously (as it was my first new car) and the damned thing still damaged the paint and left rub marks.

I would recommend Colgan. I don't know about GM's bra I had Colgan bras for both of my Porsches and they worked great. I will probably buy a Colgan for my Z.

Got mine from West Coast Corvettes. Be sure to order the one for Z06 - it has openings for the front vents. I've only taken one road trip so far, but it was about 800 miles. Absolutely no damage to the paint at all, and it was tested at speeds a little over 140 MPH. I highly recommend it.

I have a SL mask too. They sure suck to put on! The fit is so tight, you have to stand on your head to get it on. I can see why they don't flap at speed. I bought a set of their mirror masks too when I bought the bra.

I too had a SL Bra for my 2000 C5. The problem I had was that even though I would always remove the bra after a road trip, the bra pulled the front fascia down and created a noticeable heighth difference between the hood and the front fascia.

I ended up putting wheather strip foam between the fascia and the frame to raise the fascia up to line up with the hood.

With my new Z06, I'm goin' Braless!!

another vote here for the permanent protection.....I had Stongard installed last year and love it.....it's not cheap, but you never have the hassle of putting on/taking off the bra and/or having to worry about grit between the bra and the paint....
