I like the part where you were shopping for an SUV, and wound up with a Vette! At least you went in the right direction!

welcome to the forum Check your ride height on the vette. IF it's not lowered...you may as well be driving that SUV. Mods for life!

Congratulations on the purchase. You remind me of myself when I bought my vette. Exactly on a whim also. It was May of 03. I was to turn 29 on May 9th and wanted to get myself a new ride. I knew I had always wanted a Vette ever since I was just a kid. (My dream car) I figured the insurance would have been too much to handle at 29. I started out by looking at BMW 3's & 5's. Went to two dealers and neither would budge on the price. Thought to myself F*** it! Lets take a peak at my dream car. So I went to "Classic" chevrolet and all they had were Limited Edition's and Z06's. Didn't really like the color of the LE and certainly couldn't afford the Z06. By this time it was 7:00 P.M. on a week night and there was only one Chevrolet dealer left. (The dealership that my mother went to when she bought her brand new '82 Camaro) I get there and they had this one Corvette sitting out there completely by itself with a Halo on top and the face was pointed directly at me as if to say "where have you been all my life." After I wipped the single tear from my face, I walked over to this "Swirl Gray" Corvette. Just as I approached it, a salesman walks up to me and says "Looking for some excitement"? I told him that I've never sat in or driven a vette before. He grabbed the keys, walked over to me and said "start her up." Gleefully, I took the keys, sat in the cockpit and listened to the roar as it kicked over. One minute of this and I said "Lets get started with the paper work. After 4 1/2 hours of wheeling and dealing and signing my life away, the guy stood up and said "Sir, you've just got yourself a Vette." My heart started pounding uncontrollably and I felt dizzy. I stood up, knees almost buckled, and walked towards MY CORVETTE. Two guys were there taking pictures of me while I was pressed up against my newly purchased car trying to balance myself. It was just after midnight, and I pulled into the garage. The next morning, when my Father was headed out to work, he opened up the garage and saw right before his face the most incredible sight ever. My Corvette parked right in his spot! He walked back inside and went straight to my mother and said "Honey, I think our son just bought a Vette!" Out of complete shock, she flew out of the bed and did a bee line straight for the garage. They both called me down and with a huge smile on their faces said "How does she drive"?

Hopefully your experience was just as equally pleasant! Contratulations on the ride and stay on this forum....The worlds best place to be and you make friends instantly.

So far, I know I have aftermarket exhaust, air intake and Z06 wheels - not sure what kinda of exhaust or intake yet until I get the rest of the paperwork later this week. Looks like there's a plethora of GREAT information here on this board. I know I have a lot of searching and reading to do.
Congrats!
