The LS2 does produce a bit more torque throughout the curve. Other than that, they are about equal. The only other issue would be the ease of installation. In which case the LS6 would be far easier.

Best part is, it's a simple drop-in without major modifications to your computer and god knows what else

If I was replacing my motor, I'd be looking for a Z06 engine all day.
I'm with sponge on this one ...

Me too, but I'd be waiting on that 500Hp 427 LS7 (Is that right?) Z06 motor.

Good thread!

May have to go down the LS6/LS2 road myself in the VERY near future (depending on what I find out about my engine this week.)

One other option for me (besides places such as Fred Beans) is SLP Performance. They have both LS6 and LS2 402 short blocks. Hopefully I don't have to spend the cash, but if I do...what a decision I'll have to make: LS6, LS2 or 427 C5R.

I agree w/ Jack....If you could hold out till the ls7 is available! By then I would think there would be enough ls-2's installed into c-5's,that the bugs should be worked out for the most part

What is all this: LS6, LS2?

Get with the HP - an LPE 427, with or without TT

First, even without the TT, this engine combo in a C5 is awesome, and will make a C6 wonder what all the fuss is over regarding their 400HP.

I know, a few of the 'bad boy C6's' in DFW have found, to their dismay, 400HP is nothing if they want to play with me.

Even the S/O '04 with the LPE H/C, headers, etc. against a LS6 is a no contest, as well a MY C6 found out the hard way

LPE and bargain don't exactly fit in the same sentence.

I have no doubt they have great products (one of the few vendors you never hear anything negative about).

The big attraction with a forged 402 LS2 is the price point.

a 427 C5R is a superior product, but for some us the extra $$$ is a deal breaker.
