Default C5 Headers

Hello:

Any of you running headers? If so, what is a reasonable amount to pay for them? I priced them to be installed with my Borla exhaust system and was told it would cost an additional $1,100 over the Borla system. The guy told me it takes 6 hrs. of labor to install as well. Call me skeptical but my BS meter is going off here.

Thanks in advance. Oh, BTW if it matters it is a 98 A4

I bought the LG's and you will get many many many opinions on what headers to install. I don't know how long it took, I dropped it off and went back the next day to get it. I also trusted the guy who did the install. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, but I was kind of wondering about pricing in general. $1,100 sounded way too high

Is that $1100 including the parts? It's way too high for labor alone. Should me more in the range of $300-$400 tops. If it includes a cheap set of headers, then it's about right

yes, $1,100 including parts and labor. This does not include the Borla exhaust, X pipe etc. Just headers and labor.

Thanks

I very recently got a quote for $400 labor. Now I know how much I can afford for headers!

If the headers are LGM, then that is a great price!! Depends on what kind
of headers they are...

$1100 including parts and labor isn't bad at all for a set of headers.

Are they shorties or long tubes? What brand??

A good set of brand new headers with x pipe and high flow cats will cost you over $1100.00 without labor.

For a system like the Dynatech Supermaxx, the headers, high flow cats and x-pipe are about $1300 (on sale) plus you can expect about another $400 for the install. Then you may want a dynotune done - about another $500. So expect to pay close to $2.5K for the complete setup.

It took me 5 1/2 hours to install my Long Tube headers using my lift and air tools. That time guess is about right.

Kinda sounds like Borla shorties for $1100 installed. Save up another $500 and get a quality set of long tubes. That is, unless you live in CA and you are worried about emissions testing. Some come with their own x-pipe, so that could save you some money as you will not need to get one for your catback system.

Default ECS Package Price - chris@eastcoastsupercharging.com

I was up at East Coast Supercharging last week and had Chris install Kooks headers, high flow cats and x-pipe (connected to my existing Borla quad four exhaust). The entire process took his mechanic about 4 1/2 hours and that was with lunch and me asking a million questions. Total package - approximately $1400 out the door. Noticable increase in power and response + Sounds Outstanding!
