Default Keeping your C5 stock is this wrong?

Before I begin let me just say that I have always modied most of my cars but when it comes to the Vette for some reason I feel differently.

Am I the only one on this forum that likes his car plain stock? I know there are a lot of cars out there some with fewer mods then others; some highly modied C5 look beautiful, lowered with nice wheels, decked out engine compartments etc. yet when I look at those cars and then look at my stock 02 coupe, I realize I just love it the way it is. I mean I just love the way the car looks and performs out of the factory, the stock stance without lowering, the stock wheels & tires, exhaust note, quite yet throaty when you get on it and its stock performance without even a simple mods like a CAI.

Heck, I don’t even like the look of an exhaust plate, just love the way the flat-black exhaust panel looks with the two oval pipes on ether side. Is this wrong, Am I alone here.

THAT is the beauty of these cars!!! Even the blank canvas is GREAT!!!!!

Should you ever feel the desire for a change in the future you can also do that - it is YOUR CHOICE!!

I myself chose the other road

I've never left any of the eleven Corvettes I've owned "stock". I always wanted to put my personal touch on each one.

There's always room for improvement.

Just got my C5 triple black convert, have no plans to modify it. I think it makes a tasteful statement without modifications.

Maybe the stereo later...

You sure you don't want to paint that glossy black!?

One of mine I keep mostly stock, while the other one isn't....

Then again, one is an A4 and the other is an MN6....

...and one is a vert and one is a coupe...

...and one is for "show" and one is for "go"...

I guess I just can't make up my mind!

Sometimes you can't help it.

The day after I bought mine, I saw another Vette with this shiny chrome rectangular plate in the exhaust area and immediately like it. So I went down and bought one. This was way before I discovered this forum and had any idea of what "mod fever" was.

Since I've been online here, I gotten lots of great ideas on things to do to make the car look even better IMO. That's the trouble with being here...all these ideas flying around that I've just gotta try...

You've been here 2 months and still haven't been bitten? You're a stronger willed owner than most of us. Just wait, first it's a CLB to protect yourself. Then it's a CAGS eliminator if you have an MN6. then it's a bra to keep the chips off. Lowering is only an "adjustment" that can be turned back. I give you no more than 2 months until you give in to the power of the forum. Just look what happened to "Stockman".

You're not alone.

I like to personalize me too though, but no real engine HP mods. Just stuff like chrome rims red brakes, some engine dress up but nothing major, just enough to make it mine.
(seems, eveyone has a black vette in Dallas)

I totally agree with you on this one. I have lots of buddies there were surprised when I but the Auto Vette since I have been drag racing 5-speeds for so long. Also get a lot of people wanting to know what I have in store for this one but I really just love it the way it is. I already had Chrome wagon wheels on it when I got it. I guess most people were just surprised I wasn't going to go into mod heaven with it like I do my Mustangs. I just tinted the windows put on a Vararam and got the MAF ends and I not even sure I will leave the Vararam and the MAF ends on there. It is a perfect street car for me. That is what I have always loved about the Vettes. They are pretty much already to go. No it's not a 10 sec drag car but why does it need to be when I already have one.

Nothing wrong with keeping the car completely stock. It is beautiful right out of the factory. If that is the way you like it, keep it that way.

Nothing wrong with keeping it stock. It's a great car straight from the factory. Personally I think that the stock exhaust is too wimpy for a car as powerful as the Vette. That's the first thing that I've changed in all 3 of the C5s that I've owned.

Can you really out engineer the engineers? All you can really do is personalize it. I think it was just about perfect right out of the box.
