Default One more Kumho thread which one.......

This question is for all you Kumho fans out there.

For those of us looking for tires in the future, which Kumho is most prefferred? the MX or the ASX?

Most answers contain "I love my Kumho's" with no mention as to which. I need your help, I don't know which one to go with.

Thanks in advance

Jim

I'm with Jim. Considering Kuhmo's as OEM replacements. Which is best? I hardly ever see wet roads. Runflat vs. non-run flat? I want good dry traction, and much less road noise. (and a good price)

Jim,

I just purchased the MX's for a few reasons. Apparently they're much more quiter than the oem "Badyears" and the MX's offer the run-flats. Apparently the tread last's a bit longer. Plus the tread design looks evil.

I cant really tell you much more because this will be my first tire change from the oem's.

I know tires can be pretty subjective because so many people have different reasons for choosing certain tires i.e. street racing, track racing, casual driving with the occasional highway stompping. As for myself, I have not had the chance to put my ride on the track, and no one really wants to race me, so I just have to find a bit of open road late nights and open it up a little.

Your decision must be based on your own driving habits. If all else fails, start with the Kumhos....believe me; this will be the first of many tire changes so you can experiment from brand to brand.

Good luck and if you get the Kumhos, I highly doubt you will be dissapointed. I have recently posted a thread about this very topic. Check out what others have to say.

Thread subject: "Kumho Owners" posted by 4RE killer. Should be a page back. Pretty interesting things were posted, and it helped me make my decision.

From what I remember if you never drive in the rain, then Mx. Otherwise the ASX, which I think are all seasons.

I would think you would get better handling and steering response for the MX and better tread and all season traction from the ASX.
Right?

I noticed a big difference in treadwear, 220 for the MX and 440 for the ASX.
Does mean about 15-20K life for the MX?

I have MX with over 15K miles, and lots of tread still left. BTW, very safe in the rain, too.

I've got the ECSTA MX (run flats). They are great. Smooth, handle well, and look great! Zuti

I have the all season kumhos and hate them. cant wait to burn them away and get something new. Had the Goodyear GSD3 before and the handling and steering response was sooooooooooooooooooo much better. As for treadlife... the asx and the GSD3 have been about the same for me. Good luck!

I really like my ASX non-runflats. I'm into long touring trips and they are perfect for that, especially compared to the much higher priced tires discussed above. They are the best tire for the money you spend with a long tread wear rating too.
Good luck.

Had the supra 712s last summer and they worked great and they helped me cut a 2.0 60ft and 13.038 in the 1/4 with my exhaust&intake 99 coupe. ditti

My MX lasted 17K now I'm waiting on a set of ASX to arrive. Never had problems wet or dry with the MX and I hear it's the same with the ASX except the wear rating in WAY higher for the ASX. That's why I'm giving them a try.

I'd be very interested to get your input on the differences btwn the MX v. ASX. I've been very content with the MXs on my C5 and with 15K+ miles still have plenty of tread depth.

Have you considered the MXs for a little bit better traction? BTW, post up on the Mag Red site ever once in awhile, okay? I just registered last week and noticed the number of members has increased lately.
