Best Cam for $1500 or less?
As it says... I love that, "CLOP-CLOP CLOP-CLOP CLOP-CLOP" sound... it's killer... but I need to find a cheaper way so uh.... anyone know of the cam I should get?

The cam you get is going to depend on many factors. Are you upgrading your exhaust and intake tract? Do you have emissions to worry about? How about spring life, is that a concern? (Do you mind checking spring loads say every 15K miles and possibly replacing springs or do you want something that will be solid for many miles?) Do you want torque down low or power up high? Is this an auto? Do you have a converter or plan on getting one if it is an auto? Gears? Aspirations for different heads?
You really need to figure out where you want to take the car so that an approach can be planned, otherwise you might end up with a car that is barely drivable on the street.
Check out some of the vendor sites....I know Tx Speed offers packages with cam, push rods and springs and Speed Inc. does as well...parts will eat up half your budget and a dyno tune another $400 - $500 ... IMHO Budget is a little short if you pay for labor, a little left over if you install the cam yourself....
You should be able to buy more than 1 cam for 1500.00..............
A Cam Pkg. that includes cam, timing chain, gaskets, upgraded springs, push rods, and titanium retainers, plus the labor/tuning fee makes $1500.00 a reasonable cost, IMHO. I realize a lot of $$$ can be saved by doing a self install, however not everyone is a DIY kind of person.
I sure hope 1500 gets you a really badass cam plus installation, otherwise thats a huge Corvette tax because in the Grand Am world we're just now getting a cam out and it'll only be in the 300 range and maybe 150 of us will buy it.

So, does $300 cost range include A Cam Pkg.;cam, timing chain, gaskets, upgraded springs, push rods, and titanium retainers, plus labor/tuning? I seriously doubt it.

You know... I just installed GHL magnums and an x pipe and JUST oredered a torque converter. I just needed to know what to get. I really do want what some of you guys have posted but I'm looking to make this happen in about a month or two. Anyways, as for what kind I need? I have an A4 '98 with intake and the above listed. That's it. so that's why I needed this cam, for the power and sound. So what should I plan to do now?

If you're wanting a cam. I PM you with the one I'm selling. It's sounds like what you want. It's a Comp/LPE 228/588/114 cam, I bought from LemansBlue04 a few weeks ago. He got it from 21stCMC here in Dallas. It's in perfect shape. Worth 40HP and sound you're looking for. I have all the history on it. All you will need in addition are some Comp 918 Beehive Springs.
Turns out I won't be able to install it on mine, so I'm just trying to get my money back, thats' all.
PM sent, check it out.
