Mine are rusting and its pizzing me off. My speaker grills are gray and the rust shows badly. Has anybody else had this problem? Anybody have a solution for this? I havent abused them in any way and dont know how it happened.
Wow! That's the first time I have heard of this happening. Hopfully someone else has a fix for you. In that I mean someone with some spare grills they can let you have. Is water entering the car?
First time I've heard of it too. I don't think grills are available separately, but if you're having problems, I bet there will be a market for them soon. Vendors!
Its almost like they have been scuffed up by someone getting out of the car and removed the paint an started to rust. But nobody ever is in the passanger side and I never kick the drivers side speaker grill. I was thinking of painting them black, but I would like to keep them the same color. I guess I would have to take them to a body shop and have them sprayed? Any body have pics of their painted speaker grills.
My pass side has rust, have no idea where it came from ?????
Lt Oak, took it off & spray painted back same color, damn thing will not stay on, has tabbs that bend
Good luck

If you all have coupes you may have a roof leak by the clip. The clip / weatherstrip happens to be directly above the door speaker. Check your roof the next time it rains. It may be a minor leak with just a few drops and you do not notice, but give it time and the grills will rust.

Paint them ... It doesn't take but 2 minutes to remove the door panel, 2 minutes to remove the speaker grill, 15-20 minutes to paint and reinstall the grills. Not bad for about a 30 minutes mod.
I am pretty sure that my top is not leaking. Never had a problem with it before. I just called my local dealer and they want 32.65 a piece for the speaker grills. So if I would paint them gloss black and did not like them I could just drop 70 and get a new set. Do you think gloss black speaker grills would look good with black on top of gray interrior? Could somebody post some pics of their painted grills black on top of gray.
This happened to me also on the drivers door speaker grill. I removed the door panel, removed the grill, took off the Bose nameplate and removed the black material under the grill. Then wire brushed the grill and painted it with light gray interior paint available at most of the vendors on this site. Turned out great and looks much better. Just be careful when painting the grill, use light coats, if you go to heavy it will clog the little holes in the grill.
Thanks for all the advice and pics. I think I am going to paint the grills gloss back. If I dont like it I can always pick up some new grills at Chevy dealer for 70.
