Default climate control

I am having a problem with the climate control on my 98. I cannot change the temperature setting. If I turn the **** and wait for it to show the outside temp again I can adjust it one degree. Anyone had this problem?

You may want to check your interior temp. sensor. It is located on the dash to the right of the ignition. Do a search for the CLB installation and you will see a picture of it (it must be removed during installation). It is very easy to get to...the sensor must be inserted properly into the sleeve for it to operate correctly.

Had the exact same problem with my 99 3 times. It was a somewhat common problem back then. It needs replacing to fix. Problem is that you have shorted the unit out with an ESD (electrostatic discharge). I did this on mine as I said 3 times before GM replaced the unit under warrenty with a 2001 model unit. The new unit has a grounding plate behind the adjusting **** to take any static charge on your fingers to ground. You can get a used unit from several people on the parts section ( karshop@tampabay.rr.com ).
