Default Speaker Vibration

The speaker on my passenger side door is giving off a vibration sound when a bass sound is played. I haven't had this problem until about a week ago but it is very annoying and sounds as though the speaker is loose. A month ago the door panel was removed by the dealer to raise the window to eliminate a leak/wind noise. Not sure if this may be the cause. Any thoughts on this? How easy is it to get at the speaker to see if it is loose or torn, etc? Thanks

door panel is easy to remove
dont try to take off the speaker screen without removing the door panel--just folded over metal tabs holding it down

tdsteele,

Before you remove the door panel, check the Bose insignia...it may be loose and it vibrates. I reglued both of mine...no more vibration with base

I had the same problem with my Bose logo. A little RTV silicone will take care of that.

You also might want to check the red reflector lens. That was the cause of the vibration sound on my passenger side.

I pulled my lense and drove around, it turns out mine is the actual foam! I am going to have fix it eventually, very annoying.

Yep, I just got a small piece of thin rubber material and gently stuffed it in the cracks with a small blade. You can't see the rubber and the noise is gone.

There is a SB >>>>>>GM Issued an SB Number: 01-08-64-009A, Subject: Door Rattle with Moderate to High Audio System Volume, Model Year: 1997-2002 Chevrolet Corvette.

I'm performing it now.

Link here> http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/....php?qstId=276

3 M does not make the foam tape any more but I found an alternate tape at Lowes >Frost King Foam Tape 3/4"wide X 5/16"thick X 10' Long (need 2 rolles)

1 roll duct tape

self adhiesive Felt pad called [Stick-it-Felt] can be purchased at Michaels craft store. Need 2 sheets 9"X12"

Depending on model year, you wil also need a few parts, review SB! In my case for a 1999 I needed all the parts listed ($50.00 bucks total from a forum vendor)!

Cranke up the tunes!

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Cat# 02286 3M Interior Foam Tape
Weather Strip. We appreciate hearing from you unfortunately the Weather
Strip you are in search of has been discontinued without replacement.

You may wish to consider continuing your search through the Thomas Register
@ www.thomasregister pertaining to other manufacturer product
possibilities.

Your interest in and use of 3M products is appreciated.

Subject = Foam Tape Question

Message = Hello,

GM Issued an SB Number: 01-08-64-009A, Subject: Door Rattle with Moderate
to
High Audio System Volume, Model Year: 1997-2002 Chevrolet Corvette.
This SB requires the use of 3M Open Cell Interior Foam Tape P/N
051131-62385
and Velcro®, 3M® P/N 051131-06481.

I've searched the Web for these P/N's and got no hits.

Can you please provide the new P/N's that are equivalent? And can you point
me
in the right direction as to where I can buy these items in Michigan?

Link to the SB
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/....php?qstId=276

Thanks in advance,
Kevin
