Default Help! disassembling alternator for chroming

I'm taking it apart and I'm stuck at trying to get the clutch pulley off. There is a 50 Torx in the nose of the pulley, but I can't get it loose. I've used a 1/2" impact both ways w/ no luck. Any ideas

mine was a 6 speed car(no clutch on alt) but i just spun the nut off with my impact while holding the pully with a rag.......do you have a pic of the clutch on your alt? if using an impact wrench i would not use anything on the torx hole...just spin the nut off

There is no nut, you pop the cover off the front of the pulley and about 1/2" down there is a Torx hole. It might act as a jam nut or might not come out until the clutch is pressed out?
