Went to start our 2004 Z16 tonight and nothing but repetitive clicking sound. Power to lights would go on and off. When we opened the door, everything would come back on. Tried jump starting it with our truck, but only got a loud clicking sound.
No Codes - Voltage went as high as 13.9 then down to 12.9 then back to 13.5. Basically it kept fluctuating!
Car has only 500 miles and was started 5 weeks ago, but will not start tonight. I put it on a trickle charger tonight, but if that doesn't work I will remove battery and have it checked.
Does anyone think it is something else? I can't believe I was not able to jump start this car. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My car couldn't be jump started either. Luckily I was at Kragen auto parts and had to buy an exide gel battery. Just try a new battery, some are faulty from the factory.
Ninety-ninety percent chance it's your battery. They do it all the time....sudden failure due to current rush during starting. They "burn out" like a light bulb does when you flick the lightswitch.
This same thing happened to me a few weeks ago...an Optima Red Top from Advanced Auto made it all go away. [except I had to go find my radio lock code scrawled in my shop manual...now WHERE did I write that damn number down? ]
I think I have an idea for you to explore. My car also had starting concerns after sitting,< I jumped it with a low amp charger/ starter. I still had starting concerns as well as error codes, like steering column and the lights would behave odd. I took it to the dealer and the module had gone bad . The service tech said any form of low voltage ( like sitting ) compounded by voltage spikes ( like jumping) create havoc with the modules. So the old fashioned ideas like keys, fuel, and gas are the days of old. Most of the failures on these techy cars are modules related. Best of luck...If the meter said much below 14, your a candidate
