Default Any negative effects when using sound deadeners?

Has anyone had any negative effects after installing Dynamat or BQuiet Utltimate? Does it affect the Tire Pressure Monitoring function in a bad way? Anything else?

I used Dynamat Xtreme and have had no issues. The only difference is the original DM had to be heated before it was applied and sometimes had a tar smell when it got hot. DM Xtreme is peel and stick, also no smell when it's hot. Hope this helps.

BTW, I've done the WHOLE interior as well as, wheel wells and undercarriage.

To install it you have to strip out the interior. If you are questioning any potential impact to the TPS because of vertte's post, it may just be that a conection was not made during the close up of the installation - it is not a problem with the soundproofing...

Only weight, if that's an issue for you.

Thanks guys.
The car interior is stripped, cleaned and ready to go.
I pulled the passenger side door off but except for that rubber seal, it looks like it may not have room for the Ultimate. Did anyone do their doors?

To each their own.........

Let’s see: no increase in performance, it cost $, significant installation time, odds are you won't recover investment when it's time to sell it (it actually could be a determent, I know it would be if I were the buyer)..... Nope, not my style at all. To me adding weight for something like that is almost sinful

But that's just one perspective

I would guess that you do not have an aftermarket stereo, you never drive your Vette crosscountry and you no longer have stock run flat tyres.

If any of the above is a yes, the Frost King/Dynamat Extreme mod would be worth it's weight in saffron.

Night and day difference between stock and sound insulated.

2 cents deposited.

you rarely recover any investment in a car. If it makes your ride a bit more enjoyable then it's worth it.

Additional weight will be a disadvantage to some. A less noisy ride won't matter to some. I feel differently. I do not race the car and therefore feel that an additional 20-30 pounds is a small price to pay for an enjoyable ride. The sound-deadening project will be completed today. The EMTs are being replaced on Tuesday. If these two changes don't improve the noise and ride, I will sell the car. The roads around here getting so bad that I no longer enjoy driving the car. I hope all this time and expense is worth it.

- factory stereo,
- never drive x-country (i fly)
- tires; GY EMT's and KD's here (depending on use)

we each value different features/atributes of our c-5's...... and that's cool. we all have fav color & option combos, a car i'd never buy may be your dream, and the other way around

I just did the hatch area with Frost King and it smells a little funky...
I am hoping that fades with time.

you're right, we're different. My Vette is for driving enjoyment. I never worry about the the "recovery cost" of a mod.

if a mod improves the enjoyment of a car... what difference does it make if you don't recover the mods cost during resale (within reason... of course)

Relax; put the calculator down, and enjoy driving your Corvette
