Ok,, I will trade my C5 when it is worn out and I drive it to the salvage yard. It has only 60K on it now and I expect another 100,, then I suppose I would have to replace the drive line and restore the car.
The C6 is a nice car,, but I agree as others have said,, the brushed aluminum is too trendy.. My daughter bought a new car and she liked the brushed aluminum interior. That's ok for her,, but I like my C5.
I think the C6 has the horse power stuff to make it a great car,, but I expect GM to make some styling changes to the body before the C6 moves to a C7 car. 99 Nassau Blue
After seeing the C6 for the first time in Feburary of last year, I traded my 99 coupe in on a new 04 Coupe. It's going to take some time for it to grow on me. I also think the C5 is a much cleaner more flowing design. In the years to come, maybe, but right now, I'll keep with the C5.
I had the same choice and went with one of the last Spiral Grey C5s for a couple reasons. The C5 was $5000 and my trade the C6 would have been $20-25000 and my trade. I didn't think the C6 was $15-20K better a car. And they didn't offer c6s in MSG!

Maybe I am getting old, and everyone looks young to me, but it sure looked like the designer of the C6 was an awful young kid.
I remember thinking that he should be driving a "tuner".
Ah! but the C5 was designed by a gentleman of Italian heritage! , my dad always said we have "artistic genes".
(Just proud of my heritage I guess....sorry)
Love the C5!
I went through the same c5-c6 thing last year. And after driving both, although I really like both cars, for the money there wasn't enough on the plus side to buy the c6. I bought my c5 for 10k off sticker.
Believe it or not I drove a C6 before I drove a C5 and was very dissapointed. I had all but decided not to buy a corvette at all until I found this forum. I read a LOT about the C5 and compared that to what I knew about the C6 and it seemed that the C5 had the features and feel that I wanted. So I found a real nice guy in Herndon who had a C5 for sale. He let me drive his and I LOVED it. When I was done I was sold but ended up buying a different C5 (1 year newer with a solid top instead of glass and silver instead of yellow).
The C6 is "ok" but IMO it was a step backward.
I liked the c6, it just doesn't feel like a vette. Maybe too refined or comfy, who knows.
Anyone in Jax who would like to help, I will buy all the beer or Hooters wings it will take... I don't trust myself to do this job- mechanics ain't my thing........
Don't be scared of something like this buddy. If you can change a tire, you can lower your Vette. It's just a matter of turning four bolts.
