I just wanted to share a great Corvette Forum experience. I bought a 1998 Torch Red Convertible off another forum member (Randy’s C5). Randy was AWESOME! I flew out to Houston early Saturday morning and Randy picked me up at the airport in the car. We drove to a parking lot and went over the car in detail. The car was exactly as described. I drove the car back to Washington DC (almost 1400 miles). The drive was great and uneventful. It was a great experience. Everything went perfectly... I love the Torch Red!
But I do need to go put some more Aloe Vera all over my head. Who would have thought I needed sunscreen? I had the top down the entire time. Weather was gorgeous. Coming out of Texas and across Louisiana, it was high 80’s the entire way. There were people in their bathing suits on the beach swimming in the Gulf. I almost stopped but chances are... if I did, I’d still be there. Something about warm weather, bikinis and margaritas...
Couldn't see the picture Mitch, but I'm sure it's beautiful. Torch red just goes with a Corvette (even if black IS better :b ).
Glad you like your car. Gotta tell you though, those grin muscles are going to get a workout until you get used to it. That, "I got a VETTE!" grin just won't go away!
Welcome to the Forum brother, don't forget to wave!
Thanks you guys! I have actually had several Corvette's. My last one was a 2004 Machine Silver coupe that I sold a couple months ago. I really wanted to try a convertible for a while since I've never had one. I will do a C6 beginning of next year when they start dealing a little on pricing.
Thats a great story, Mitch! Must have been a beautiful drive! I just bought mine last Saturday and already drove it up the California coast a bit, sans roof panel. My forehead aint seen that much sun in a year!
And I agree, that's a super sweet garage you have! I have to hide my baby under a car cover in my apartments shared garage. Gah! Hope the neighbor kids dont play b-ball next to it!
Congrats on a great new set of wheels! Have fun!~~~Patrick
Congrats ! Long drives in the vette are great ,drove from Houston to McAllen and back one day. I had to let my bro-inlaw drive some too but how nice it must be to do 1400 miles. I hope to take a trip this summer long distance!
I can share your joy! It's so cool to fly in and drive your new vette home. I flew to PA to get mine and loved the 3000 mile + drive back home. I think I will purchase all my future vettes this way!!!!
