So I got a new C5 GM bra today. It somes with 7 snaps. 4 for the wheel wells and 3 for the front fascia. I removed a bolt from the wheel well and compared with the threads of the 4 snaps for the wheel well, and the threads are different!!! The bolt from the wheel well has a corser thread, more like the threads of the 3 snaps for the fascia. There is no way to put the snaps on, since the threads are different. Also, I noticed there is already 5 snaps under the front fascia. What is going on here??? This is a 99 Vette I bought recently so I just trying to figure this out!!! I'm sure based on the directions I have the right screws, just seems like my car isn't matching what I should have.

I didn't use the snaps in the kit, I ended up going to a Marine store and buying self tapping screws. I want to say the brand is SeaFit, but I'm not 100% sure.
I just put my GM bra on last weekend and had the same problem. I ended up removing those clips in the wheel weels that the original screws were fastened into. I found out that once you tighten the new screws with the rubbers on them, the rubber expands and make for a tight fit. The end product is a fine looking, tight fiting bra. Good luck.
I just recently purchased a GM bra and the only problem I encountered was stretching one of the loops that fits over the hood insulation fastener large enough to attach it to the fastener. I tried again and again and finally removed the fastener and inserted the shaft of the fastener thru the loop and then reinserted it into the underside of the hood. This was extremely frustrating and I don't want to have to repeat this each time I install and remove the bra.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Looking at the tech tip I figured out the same thing, I'll try it tonight. I think I stripped part of one screw trying to make it fit! Directions were bad! Ugh.
GM bra design by Yugo! The rubber expanders would not go through the screw holes on mine....without taking the fender loose to remove the speed nuts. I too bought new snaps at an upholstery shop but had to shorten them.
As for the short elastic loops on the hood piece, I leave them off....no flap, no problem.
