I got my paint pens at Michaels (arts & crafts store). They had a pretty big selection of colors. But I don't specifically remember a color that matched mag red. It is really a pretty easy mod. I have ZERO artistic abilities and mine came out OK. I just took my time. My total cost for the pens and the black spray paint was less than $30. Here is a pic of mine:

I've ordered a hoodliner kit, an I.D. plate, new floor mats and a cargo mat. Speak to Rich - he's the man! Tell him I sent 'ya!
What does the kit contain?

Really looks great.

Yes I took the liner off....The plugs came out easy...I used my fingers and pulled them out ....I did not break any, so I used the same clips.
I think that the liner will stay cleaner with the paint on it, because now it is coated rather than absorbent.....Time will tell. I should have taken a before pic. The difference is amazing.

It took me about 2 hours total...I had to wait for the paint to dry between coats.

Looks Great but aren't the black/white checked areas reversed? Must have been the vodka & 7s. I've got to do this.

They are reversed. I did it only because the areas that I painted white were the embossed (flat) areas and the paint took better. The other areas are raised and fiberous and would have taken forever to paint. I know it isn't accurate, but it made the job easier!!

Although no one can compete with the "buddy system" (having a firend or relative do it)....if you shop professional airbrush artists for the same amount of detail work and effort Paula puts into her liners, you'll quickly find how incredibly reasonable her prices are.

If you only want the logo done, get some paint pens and do it.
If you want a full custom liner with lots of airbrushed graphics, I guarantee you will not get better results at a better price shopping retail artists locally than what Paula offers.

I would not recommend doing it by brush paint. It takes a really really long time, however, towards the end I noticed that the silver does not soak in like all the colors. If I had to do it over I would paint the entire thing silver first and then go back with the other paint. Actually if I had to do it again, I would find better paint pens or just buy the embroidered one.

I am not happy with the brush results at all.

Look at the dog turd here

Did mine with paint pens over the winter. Not the greatest pic, but you get the idea.

4 vodka 7's and 2 hours later........You be the judge.

Have you had any problems with engine compartment heat causing either the black or the colored paints to transfer on to the fuel rail covers or airbridge if they touch with the hood closed?

Default C5 Hoodliner - My first and only attempt

50 hours and lots of frustration. These things soak up paint like a blotter and a creating sharp lines is next to impossible. Thoughts?
