Default C6 shifter install

Just in, my C6 shifter & ****. I will install it this weekend and let you all know my thoughts. I have the Hurst now, which works great but as my mod fever tells me, "You must try it out".

I really like mine. I did three a couple of weekends ago, mine and two friends. All three of us have been very happy with the results from the C6 shifter. Had the Hurst and didn't like it at all.

Put mine in last weekend. Replaced a B&M. I really liked the B&M - short, positive shifting but bad wrist forced change. Oh well, I guess I'll learn to like it.

I want to do this. The hurst and Ripper are way too tight for my liking but the C6 shifter has their low profile. BTW, CF member Patches had an excellent illustrated write up about installing this

I installed mine last week -- first mod. Short throw is nice (could be even a little shorter, imo) but the shift **** is what impresses me most. Just a great feel and look.

Just make sure you have Torx size 40 before you start the install... otherwise you're gonna have to drive to home depot with no console. Not that I'm speaking from experience of course... (sigh)...

If you install the C6 shifter, then you also must install the C6 Shift ****. They come as a set from Fitchner.

The C5 Shift **** is incompatible with the C6 Shifter

I agree. I just got mine in tonight. I was the one who bought the shifter for Patches and finally got around to installing it.

As far as the shift boot, I turned it inside out, installed a zip tie around the collar of the shift ****, and cut a couple of the threads to insert the shift **** into the shifter.

All in all, a very easy install.

Best of luck.

Have fun with your install!

I put in a Hurst. I drilled out the top of the stock **** so I could screw it down further and lower the **** quite a bit more than it normally would sit on top of the shaft now making for a real short shifter.

I let my girlfriend drive it (she's 56, me 59). She LOVED IT and she only weighs about 110! She has no problem shifting the Hurst. In fact she has such a natural knack of driving/shifting the vette in general I'm letting her enter, for her 1st time, the next local auto-cross. I think she'll do well and probably get hooked!

Let us know your impressions! I hear the C6 shifter/**** combo is a nice improvement.
