I have a sytem on my 84 vette that disables the ignition/starter, it was on the car when I bought it so I don't know who made it....does anyone know where to buy a similar system for a 99? Thanks in advance...
If your 99 is a stickshift, you can hook up a 99-cent kill switch easily.
Locate the clutch safety switch up near the clutch pedal hinge. It's a rather large plastic boxy- looking switch. About 2 inches away from the switch, cut ONE of the wires . Splice in a simple toggle switch on a long lead, and hide it in the car wherever you like .
Then, in order to crank the engine, you need to both step on the clutch AND flip the hidden toggle.

Yes, where is a nice place to snip the A4's so a nice kill switch can be hidden?
I am going to do this as well... there should be a switvh that detects the car is in park (at least I think so). If not I was thinking of interrupting a circuit to either the fuel delivery system, or possibly the starter... hope someone else chimes in, if not I'll have my shop manuals back in 2 weeks, and I'll post a solution.
On an automatic, it IS possible to do the same thing with the neutral safety switch. However, the switch is under the car at the rear-mounted trans and the wiring diagram is confusing, so I would hesitate to offer directions in print.
On all C5's there is a Theft Deterrent Relay and the same procedure ca be applied to that circuit. In fact the clutch safety switch (MN6) and the netural safety switch (automatic) are in series with this circuit. The relay is easy to access and very secure.
It is in the passengers foot well. Remove the toe board and look directly forward and above the BCM. It will be mounted to the fire wall. You can identify the relay by these wires; PPL, RED. Black/yellow & yellow. You can cut the yellow or the yellow/black wire.
The PPL and RED wires are heavy gauge and cary the starter solonid voltage and current.
Here is a picture of where the relay is. If you look close, you can see it. It is above the BCM (silver box)

On my 6spd, I did my work over on the driver's side using the wires going to the clutch switch. Tip: If you use a DPST switch with spade lug connectors, and get caught away from home one day with a bad set of contacts in the switch, just unplug the connectors from the bad set of contacts and plug on to the new (unused) set and your good to go.
