I hate to rehash this already posted thread but I need more input. (and NOT the kind saying "it's your car, what do you care what we think)

I have been wanting to buy a set of at least 18/19's for my Nassau Blue vert. I came across these wheels.
Wheel post

I was pretty set on buying them and then I saw Yo-El's Imola wheels for sale. I instantly fell in love with them.

I was all set to buy them when a dose of reality set in. I'm still in the process of buying a new house and with even 5% down, I'll need at least 15-20K in a few months for the downpayment. Though I could probably still swing it, I had to reprioritize my responsibilities.... and thus, the thought of spending 4K right now for wheels is something I shouldn't do.

So, as a cure, I'm going to have to settle for something less. I came across the wheels listed in the above post and Zilla did an impromptu photochop for me. I'm still a little on the fence cause by the time you spend 800'ish for wheels and 1400-1500 for tires, I'll still have over 2K in it.

I just don't want to purchase them and regret it later. I'm really not an indecisive person and money is never really an issue but when you're stepping outside of the box and buying something I don't have to have, I'm reconsidering.

So, excuse the second post, I just need some more input. Here are the pics if you don't want to click on the link.

Thanks guys for being so patient and your advice.

Mark

PS. BTW, I have 18's all the way around now. One of the main reasons to change was to buy 19's and get bigger tires (in diameter) to fill in the wheel well.

Responsibilities is a word many of us do not wish to understand.
Temptation is your true inner voice, always listen to it.

The Imola's will look KILLER on your car.

Glad I could be of some help.

BASTAGE... I know they'll look killer but I'm trying to be responsible. Better to spend 2K than 4K right now...

You're NO help...

Personally, I'd stick with the stock wheels. I'm not a fan of black wheels in the first place, and secondly, the stock wheels roll just fine and if you're in a bind financially, it would really not be wise to spend quite a bit of money to replace something that works well.

Ok, serious. For the position you are in now, I'd keep what you have, at least until after you're in your new house. You are correct in that now is not the time to be buying needless toys and eye candy I think chrome thin spokes look better than the black "psuedo multi pc" C6 wheels on your car anyways.

If you can't get what you REALLY want now, I wouldn't settle, I'd wait. If you buy these and decide later this year your don't really like them, or find another dream set of wheels, sure you can sell them, but how much will you lose? ...and you'll be out shopping again, spending even more money. Do this only once and the 2 grand difference you see now becomes much less if not zero.

Besides, I believe those Imolas are no longer made. Kind of a rare find. sorry. :

Call me a bastage too! I agree with some of the guys above the thin spokes look fine on your ride. Save your money and get what you want the first time you won't regret it. Personally I don't like the C6 wheels (expecially black) on the C5 but that's just me. I don't know how many times I tried to be practical and ended up with something that wasn't exactly what I wanted and regreted it later. It took me until I was 39 to get a Vette because of practicality, now that goes out the window, I get what the heck I want and don't regret it. Just my 2 cents bro.

You kiss azz, you would agree.

Yeah, at least I know it.

See what you've done, you've forced me to hi-jack the gentlemans thread like EG does.

Wait until you're in the house and then look forward to getting the 4K wheels you really want. Anything less is just a compromise.

My 2 cents on deposit...

Trust me you'll be glad you've saved the money once you buy that house. Most people don't have any idea how much little crap costs you when you buy the first house. Just things like hoses, garbage cans, ladders, window treatments, etc.

If your asking for a yes or no, I would originally have said no. I thought blk and blue would look like a big bruise but having seen the wheels with you blk top, I like em!

By the time you get 4000 miles on your new set of wheels...your equity will have gone up enough to offset the extra 2k/...go for it. .or wait till later...don't settle .......(besides,shinies in a new garage always looks cool)

Mark, IMHO keep what you have right now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them Besides, with the blower on there, I would stick with all 18s anyways. Get the house. You can always get the wheels you like later on.

Wow, Thanks guys... I appreciate all the advice. I think for now, I will just keep what I've got.

Eddie,

A special thanks to you. Boy, did that hit home. Every time I've bought a new home, it turns out to be more expensive just because of all the little crap that goes with it. (I'm sure she'll want new furniture also...)

Thanks everyone.

Get 'em w/o the C6 logo. IMO mixing the generation badges detracts from any vette, using C6 badges on a C5 makes the C5 look like a wanna-be.
