Everything about living in Bama is good. I just returned from the Talladega 500 (or if you're a new fan, Aaron's 499 ) The interstate driving here is good too. Not that many state troopers and usually they always lurk in the same spots (prattville exits ) You have the appalachian mts. just 3 hrs away and the beach from montgomery is two hrs away. By the way, I live in Clanton, Al, smack dab in the center of the state.
First rule of house shopping; no slopes in either direction, no ups, no downs. Learned that a long time ago and still practice it.
No downs will keep you out of most flood plaines and creek beds and no ups means when it snows or freezes, you can stil get in and out of the garage.
If builders insist on using any such lots, let them eat cake.
LOL! Down near Augusta, you can say that. Move a bit more north and east and you'll find there are about 12 lots in the northern part of the state that have no slopes.

Nuts! I just got back from driving on that "good" interstate. I-20 between Atlanta and Birmingham is so bad my hood was shaking at 60 mph. Haven't you guys ever heard of resurfacing roads?
I think I'd be out there with a couple dozen bags of quick-crete and smooth over that ramp for my baby. If they city doesn't like it, let them come and fix it.
my cars not even lowered...and i used to hit if i never went up sideways...we built a new house...and just have a slight slope and its tarred...theres no problem with the drainage...no problems or worries about either car scrapping coming in and out of the driveway heres a couple of pictures to explain what i am trying to say
Getting stationed at Maxwell? If so what career field?
Nope, I'm a systems tech for UPS here at the Montgomery hub. As soon as I finished college last year, I got lucky and got this job, as I was previously loading packages in trailers. My living expenses are minimal, so I decided I should go ahead and buy a vette and a house while I have the chance. My roomate/best friend will be moving with me to whatever house I get, so him paying rent and utilities will help out alot.
And to you guys commenting on the house prices, etc., ever since I joined this forum and started seeing how much you guys spend on living expenses, I've come to like Alabama more and more every day. It really is super cheap to live here in comparison to most states. The weather generally rocks too.
Only problem with Montgomery is that I don't know ANY vette guys here. They're around, and I get waves alot, but I can't seem to meet any of them. I really envy how the VA/NC guys in the southeast forum have stuff constantly going on.
You might want to see if there is a 'Neighborhood Association' with some little Hitler at the top...People like that can make it impossible to use a 2x4 in the gutter.
I'm gonna buy a set of these rollers, Several folks in our club have them and say they are great!
