Default Vert Owners???

I am considering buying a Vert but I am concerned about visibility to the right rear. I will be doing a lot of in the city interstate driving and will often need to know what or who is slipping up on that right rear to merge off the freeway. Does the mirror do it in everyday driving? Or has anyone added a fisheye? Or do you just go for it?

I haven't found a problem with it. It just keeps me on my toes. I wouldn't ever think about getting rid of it.

To bad you are in Wa. because visibility is better with the top down. I think the bigger blind spot is L/Rear. R/R for me is ok. Good luck with your purchase. Doug

Default Right rear blind spot

You are right. It can be a problem. What I do is get someone to get in the blindspot area and adjust my ourside rearview mirror to cover that spot. You can still see behind you...

There is a blind spot on both sides but I would say that it is much less than on out Sebring vert. Keep in mind that the rear window is very close to your head. That makes the little window seem much bigger. I recently sat in a Prowler with the top up and could not believe how good the visibility was through that tiny rear window. You should go for a test drive and see for yourself.

I guess it would depend on how tall you are I am 5'6 and I cant see sh*t out the right side I have to push myself up in the seat to see.

be careful I would take one for a ride first.
But then again I love the vert and would not change it for any other

My main problem is backing up with the top up. Other than that it's not too bad.

No rear visibility problems on the road, just when backing up and trying to see if anything is coming from the passenger side rear.

I drive with the mirrors adjusted for the track and have no blind spots for the lanes on either side. It takes some getting used to because when changing lanes you must look in the rearview mirror and then the outside mirror.

Here is the proceedure for adjusting them.

Center the rearview mirror such that when looking straight ahead shift your eyes to the rearview mirror without moving your head. The middle button on the mirror should be centered. You can raise the trunk lid a little to insure the trunk emblem in centered in the mirror.

For the next steps you will need a multi lane highway. To adjust the left outside mirror, let a car slowly overtake you in the left lane. Again looking ahead just moving your eyes keeping your head still, the car will start to go out of the left corner of the rearview mirror. When the front 1/2 of the car is out of the rearview mirror the front 1/2 of the car only should be in the right corner of the left outside mirror. Adjust the outside mirror out until this happens. The car will start to dissappear from the left outside mirror, when only the back 1/2 of the car is visible in the mirror, turn your head and look out the driver's side window, the car will be visible. Adjust the right outside mirror similar to the above.

If a car is overtaking you, you can see how the car moves from the rearview to the outside mirror, to being visible. Never out of sight, no blind spots.

If the rearview mirror is clear, the outside mirror is clear and there is no car visible out the side window, you are guaranteed there is no car in that lane.

Takes a little getting used to, just be careful. Try to drive only with the top down, visibility is great then...

I wouldn't let the visibility issue make your decision on buying a vert!!, when you back up just roll the window down, I'm 6'-1" and the blind spots are not that bad, the rewards when we get nice weather for a topless cruise is worth it !!.

Very good description!

It kinda boils down to, with head straight, then turned towards mirror (either side) you should NOT see the side of your car in your side mirror. If you do, your mirror is adjusted to far in. Most people like to see the side of the car for visual clue/reference but its not necessary once you are confident of what you are viewing in your side mirrors.

Following the description above, your view into the mirror will end up being a couple of inches away from the side of your car.

buy the little sticky convex mirrors that you place on your outside mirrors. That is how all of my cars are.

Fish eye on the left mirror and over the shoulder for the right. You'll get used to it.

Top down = problem solved. My record is 28 degrees with the top down, and I'm only 30 miles south of you. If its raining I drive the Tahoe - that's what it's for.

No such thing as blind spots when the side mirrors are adjusted properly. Follow the procedure listed above and you won't have any problems.
