Welcome to the Forum!

Well you opened the door, so let me step on it. I was headed to the car wash this morning and I noticed this red blip in my rear view mirror it was getting closer and closer pretty quick.

Well I look up again, and there he is. It was a mustang not the new one but the body style before that one. There was zero traffic and he swings out beside me and starts pacing me. I started getting bored with this quick so, I down shift into 3rd from 5th and hit the pedal expecting th leave this guy in the dust however, it was me that was left in the dust his guy passed me like i was in reverse.

In big black letters across the rear bumper it said "COBRA". whats the deal with this mustang i have spend an hour on google trying to find out how this guy beat me so badly. whats it going to take to kill this guy n20, cam heads what someone help the new guy out!!!

It was probably an 03/04 Cobra. Those come from the factory with a supercharger which puts the car at about 400 flywheel HP. Factor in that Mustang owners love to mod as much as us, and he's likely at least 100 HP more than you. A good head/cam package will catch you up in a hurry. If you talk to a tuner, they can set up a plan for head/cam package that will allow you to add a supercharger later if the head/cam doesn't give you the power you want/need.

FYI, my head/cam package was purchased from 21st Century Muscle Cars. Its a moderate cam and gave me 500 Flywheel HP.

Welcome to the sad fact of life Tom, it's hard to admit, but a bone stock Corvette won't beat everything else on the road. It was hard for me to accept too.

But! It's nothing that $10K or so won't fix!

Hey catert755,

Congrats on a great car and welcome to the forum!

I just went in to Andy's A & A Corvette yesterday for the first time and had my first mods bolted on. A Halltech Stinger Intake and some rail savers (getting the Frame Savers next time when in stock and ordered a Corsa Touring Exhaust). Im getting better gears soon too...

He was a huge help and his shop is awesome. Every extra penny I have will be finding it's way into his pocket, Im certain.

That Cobra wont bite me! (Eventually!)

Have fun! Keep us posted on what mods you go with so I can compare experiences. Thanks!

And CHEERS!~~~JadeDragon

Welcome to the forum Tom. You've come to the right place to learn just about anything you wanted to learn about your car (and frankly, even some things you didn't.) Sorry about your experience with the Cobra. Just goes to show, there is always going to be someone faster. Enjoy the ride.
