I purchased a 75 series Optima red top in March for the C5. It fits perfect and has an awesome warranty. In the 5 years I have spent on this forum I have heard a lot more good than bad regarding these (but I must admit the bad reviews have popped up very recently).

My C5 is a standard, so I am more concerned about leaks (which the red top can't do) than maybe having to "pop start" it in the unlikely event the red top fails.

Do both the 34 and 75 series fit the same and the same way? and although someone explained the cca differece what does that really mean?

The 75 has a flat, wide base that worked well in my 2001 C5 battery tray (the OEM Delco was a 75) and has more than enough CCA for the car.

9 months and counting on the Optima...no problems so far.
I bought the 74/38 and it fit right in my 99. I was even able to reuse the "wedge" shaped hold down plastic piece that snugs it into the tray.

Doesn't it have to be in "LOC" mode first??

I put a Red Top in my '99 last Sept when the Delco died. It fit perfectly in the stock holder and all I did this winter was install a battery tender on it during storage and this month it fired right up after taking the cover off the car.

I have an Optima "Yellow Top" in all of my Vette's, actually, in my truck and Trailblazer too, and after years of using Optima I haven't had one single problem with them, nor has anyone I know.

This is true! There is a scary black hole underneath the battery, and it will devour all that enters it!

I scrapped the oem Delco as soon as I heard of the possible leage problems.
