I just got back from deployment and returned to find that one of my front RUN-FLATS was "FLAT", so I said, "Great time to buy new tires."
My RUN-FLATS were just passing 4 years of age and I went with the NON-RUN-FLATS KUMHO Ecsta MX. Great buy and dependable ratings at TIRE-RACK. Here is the problem:
I am still getting the LF tire is FLAT code on my display. I went out and drove it and still appears as a FLAT tire, which is false.
I disconnected the battery and nothing cleared. I also noticed that the FL is reading a pressure but my FR is not. Is there a way to turn it all off? A fuse maybe?
I am a guy that checks fluids weekly and tire pressure weekly too, so I have never depended on this read out anyway.
Also, I am looking to buy a couple of these tires for the rear, but TIRERACK is on back order, any other ideas?
saw your address and got homesick for Hawaii, I did 3 years there in the 80 s at Barbers Point. I had a 1976 vett while I was there and was paying about a buck a gallon for go juice, can only guess what your paying now. Good luck and enjoy your tour !!!!!
Using non-runflats, you might want to consider getting the tire pressure sensors working again. They will key you to a slow leak - well before your weekly check - and maybe save you a lot of grief.
Yeah, it is nice (the weather), it is too busy out here now. The gas, well, when I left for deployment six months ago it was $2.30, got back a couple of days ago and it is $2.50. WOW!
Thanks Soldier, for your comment above.
If I don't find anything out soon about fixing this problem, I will go crazy. I am going to try my DIABLO Predator and see if that will clear it. Probably not, but I can have a tune written to get it cleared....I hope.
I was thinking of just buying another one in a few weeks. LOL!
Thanks,
micah
You can RE-LEARN the sensors but I can't remember how! Someone here will!! GOOD LUCK!! Oh and I believe a new sensor is quite pricey so I would try everything with the ones you have!! Maybe the tire place will pay for a new one if they broke it with the new tires!!!
OH and WELCOME BACK & THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to hijack, but my '03 had a flat run-flat. I replaced the fronts with non-run-flats and according to the repair dude, they did what is called a TPMS Sensor Kit 'Rebuild' which were $4.5 each.
The problem is I cannot get the left front to react to my special BBS Magnet reprogramming tool nor a very strong general magnet. Ideas ??
