C5 questions
How bad are the runflat tires for noise really? I am wondering if it would be better to get Nitto x4 (or some other recommended brand) and sell the rear runflats. I will be placing the tires on the stock rims (5-spoke).
How good (or bad?) is the alarm system on a 2000 Corvette? Is it advised to get another alarm since I don't have a private garage? I have enclosed parking in an old Hotel.
More questions to come.

I'm running Firestone Firehawks which are a runflat tire also.

If you're concerned about the noise, you have a couple of options while staying with runflats.
1) First of all, as someone else noted, Firestone, Michelin, Kuhmo and other companies make runflats; several are advertised as being much quieter than the Goodyear runflats. Just make sure you're aware of the repair limitations. Goodyears can be repaired after driving up to 200 miles on them flat. Most other tires can't be repaired at all or at a much lower mileage only.
2) There's the famous "Frost-King" sound insulation mod as well as several commercial insulation packages.

Be sure to use only Zaino on that color.
About tires. My 01 has the original stock with 12,000 miles. I bought the car with 5000 miles on it. They started out relatively quiet, but as the miles are added, the noise level increases to a disappointing level. In my late 40's, I drive very conservatively, commuting around town on good roads, in good weather. With most of the thead remaining, the GY runflats are as loud as ever. If this keeps up, I can't imagine how loud they will be with twice the mileage.
My advise, consider another runflat brand. www.tirerack.com has lots of ratings on tires. I seem to recall Firestone offered Corvette applied runflats with a quiet rating.
My first and last set of tires are these Goodyear F1 runflats. The noise takes away too much of the enjoyment.
Stock alarm is good, but it won't protect from vandalism. Get good insurance.
