It was a very high % of the Z06's produced for 2004. Not a rare car but it is a good looking one! All the Zo6's run like the devil. If you like performance ya gotta have one in your life!

I saw at least one on this site that had been totaled. That means we're down to 2024.

As they say above, 2025.
I don't care, as long as my daily driver is #1394. 11,000 miles since July, 2004.

I always wonder when I see this..."Not a rare car" Does there only have to be one or two (ten or twenty) to be rare? Just what is "rare"?

Production of ZO6’s

2001 5773
2002 8297
2003 8635
2004 5790

Total ZO6's 28,495 Total C5’s 207,879 + or -

Total Z16’s 2025 or 7% of ZO6's

Does "rare" change with time? Maybe 2025 is not rare
now...will it be rare ?

My hobby is collecting cars and rare to me implies that not many were produced or still exist. The 2025 number of Z16's made does not seem rare to me. That is approximately 40 Z16's /state; actually less because some are on foreign soil.

There are 2023 because 1 near me in Rochester, NY got wacked by a truck.

Once the dust settles and 2004 is a distant memory, yes the Z16 will be sought after because of it's uniqueness and one off production options.

Rare is a ZL1 or a 1967 L-88.

Rare - not frquently encountered;scarce;
unusual or uncommon

The Z16 is the test mule for using carbon fiber. It is a first and will be a collectable at some point.

Exactly. While I don't think the Z16 will ever be considered "rare", it should be (in time) the most sought after of the Z06's. I kinda wish I would've waited for one.

The Z16 is by far the the most common 2004 Z06 color and represents almost half of the production run. There are twice as many blue 2004 Z06s out there than some of the other colors. The CEs were slow sellers, gathering dust on dealer lots long after other color Z06s were long gone. I'm not sure how the most common color can be called "unique" and I think CE sales (or lack thereof) pretty much indicates how the buying public feels about the Z16 package. If anything, I'd bet that Z16s will be worth less than other 2004 Z06s in the future.

I'm not trying to be negative, but large production numbers (relative to other Z06s) and slow sales do not add up to a future classic.

Sorry, you are not correct on this one.

Is it color that make a car rare? I don’t think so. I ran across this...

Early hood problems which put 75% of the production in the last 1/2 of the year and fully 50% in the last 3 months. (Z16 #1000 came off the line on 3/12/04 and #2025 on 6/14/04). That last fact is the real reason so many of these were leftover as the Corvette generation changed.

It's amazing how many people gripe about the Z16, then proceed to put stripes on a Z06, coupe or vert.

GM will never stripe a corvette like that again either. The supersport stripes just did it for me beyond the car's capability. I had to have it!

That is the best looking and performing corvette combination ever as far as I am concerned and my wallet agrees.

I will wait for a Z16 Z06 in a few more years!

I love all Z06's
You just never know what is going to add to future value. I've seen crazy things add to value on older cars (i.e. having a 3spd stick versus a more desirable 4spd).

I think the Z16 will have a place as a sought after vehicle. I don't personally own one, but having something unique like the carbon fiber hood is enough to add value for sure. That's pretty rare (especially given the total production of Z06's in four years). Even the 2001's may be of increased value since they were the first to be produced, and they're unique with different engine and badging.

I'm hoping that my machine silver '04 (one of only 967 Machine Silver Z06's ever built) will be of value. Will the general collector care if it's MachineSilver vs. QuickSilver??? Who knows, crazier things have happened. Come on paint code lucky number 67U!!!!
Not that I ever plan on getting rid of it!!

Those stripes are worth more hp than a Type-R decal too...
