Help!! What is this???
I am still a fairly new vette owner and was wondering if someone could help me out with a problem i've been having. Whenever I'm driving lately I have been hearing this squeeky/ratteling noise coming from somewhere behind the steering wheel. The noise doesn't appear to be related to any mechanical issue. My thinking was that maybe the dash and some part of the steering column are rubbing on oneanother, or maybe the dash is vibrating somewhere back there. It has been driving me crazy the past couple of days 
. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Joe

Does your steering column have an up and down movement if so these bolts in the picture could be the problem, especially if the car has aluminum bezels for the gauges. Hopefully someone else will jump in on this thread

Yea, this is not an uncommon problem. The noise sounds as if it is inside the car. I had mine taken to the dealer and they removed the steering wheel before they found that it is where the column goes through the fire wall. There is a rubber bushing that squeaks. You need to spray some WD-40 or something like that back there. There was a thread back sometime ago on this. Maybe someone can find that for you.
