I had to get my air conditioning recharged and the guy said I may have a leak in the evaporator and would probably have to have it replaced. Does anyone know what the expense of this will be???
I bought 3 cans of R134a at discount auto for $9.48 each + Tax. It took two full cans and the guy did not charge Me anything to put it in the system. (He is mt brother) He has a sniffer tool to check for leaks and It buzzed a little inside the car at the vent outlet. He is a retired mechinic but His health won't allow him to tackel a job such as replacing the evaporator. It also detected a small leak at the evacuation fitting. He did not have a tool to tighten it so I'm waiting for my neighbor to return home from work to see if he has one. If not, I will just have to spend my day at the dealers to get it tightened. ( Probably cheaper for me to buy the tool)
I hope I don't need a new evaporator. I'll get the under hood leak repaired and hope the sniffer just was picking up the gas from under the hood.
