Default Eagle F1 Uni-directional question??

Just bought my first Corvette (Pewter 2002 Coupe), and WOW, what a life changing event! Here's my question though, as the new guy:

I just realized while I was detailing the wheels that my right rear tire is actually a LEFT rear tire, meaning the uni-directional arrow is going the wrong way!! I called back to the place I bought the car and they suggested I get with the dealer and see how much it is to have that tire flipped on the rim so it is going the right way. I've already put a few thousand on those tires, and it just doesn't sound right to have a tire that is already going one way to then change.....aren't they uni-directional for a reason? Just don't want the belts to come apart on me on the road!! Thanks for any help.

That sounds bad. there are some real tire experts on the Forum who will chip in.

I'll be interested to see the answers to this question.

They are unidirectional, but not asymmetrical....so there is no "right" or "left" tire. The installer simply mounted it on the wheel backwards.

You can flip it on the wheel and it will be just fine. The only reason it is directional is the tread design...designed to channel and direct water away from the tire when rotating. You have done no damage running it backwards, other than the wet driving traction may have suffered.

I had the same thing on the rear right wheel. I go my car less than 2 months ago. My Chevy dealer remounted the tire for only $14.00. No problem. I think it is a little quieter. Get it changed and don't worry about it.

Welcome to the forum. It is hard to find a good mechanic and someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to vettes. Just goes to show you, always pay attention when someone else is touching your pride and joy.

Welcome. Good luck getting the tire switched - once done you should be fine.
