Hey, buy the car, worry about the insurance later. You'll find a way to pay for it. You're only going to be young once. You might as well enjoy yourself.
Life's short..Vettes are fast..only the good die young.

There is something you need to understand son. Many of the Vette owners here waited a long time (me included) before they could jump in a Vette. I don't have any statistics, but I would wager most first time Vette owners are more like late 20's to mid 30's and up. I think its only natural for there to be skepticism when a 19yr old first time owner pops in here.
And you better have a good paying job, because the cost of buying the car is just the beginning. Gas, insurance, maintenance, and MODS
will wear out your checking account!Enjoy while you can I say. Soon enough you will have a house payment(maybe 2), alimony, college tuition for the kids, etc, etc, etc.
my insurance for a full coverage on a 99 frc and minimum coverage on a 97 civic runs me 85 dollars a month with state farm. i'm 22 with no points or recent tickets pending. thats as good as i could find. it was gonna be 1800 a year through my old insurance company for just the vette... long live STATE FARM
and you might as well get used to those " mommy and daddy's ride" remarks. you'll notice that a lot of men in minnie vans are quite jelous of younger guys driving a nice ride. i do realize that a lot of kids are blessed with rich parents, but i've worked hard to be where i'm at and its dissapointing to get the " i like daddy's ride" comments after a 10 hour work day!
I'm 22 and on my 04 CE I am paying roughly 700 every 6 months. If I could get my grades back up my insurance company gives a good student discount which had my payments at 550 every 6 months. Ask them if they do discounts for grades or multiple policies such as getting a life insurance policy. Life insurance costs me 110 a year but i get a $150 multiple policy discount.

I know all about the other expenses of muscle cars. A corvette gets better gas mileage than my current car, insurance is what I was asking about in this thread (which again should be better than my current car), as for maintenance that is expected to come with any used car, and I have already planned out somewhat which mods I will get and when I can get them. I am not just some dumb kid, I research and plan BEFORE I buy. Thanks for your concern though.

Instead of doing what I (and doubtless many others here) did at that age, which was to chose to buy lesser vehicles and then throw good money at making them slightly faster lesser vehicles, you went straight to the right car.
The problem was that a car like the C-5, even corrected for the technology of the era, didn't exist at such an economic price for its day. All we had were models like the Porsche 911sc or the 308GTS. At more than $10,000 in 1979 for a one year old 911sc, that was far more than you would ever pay for a good C-5 today when you adjust for inflation. Even the overpriced 308GTS was an underperformer in the horsepower department.
Congrats on the right choice on a great preowned car and welcome to the greatest forum.

The Corvette is cheaper to insure than the '97 GT vert we've also got. Same drivers same policy, etc. Clean records.
