You haven't asked kwiklift about that yet? You answered earlier that you don't have a Yellow Freight terminal nearby, so you know that much. They maybe able to ship it with another carrier that's nearby. But if you're going to sweat the $29 to rent a truck I don't know what else to tell you. Frankly I think you enjoy yanking our chains, but that's cool. I'm atta here.

Not really into yanking anyones chains. I'm just on the fence with regards to the purchase. I could use the product but have a hard time parting with the funds. I was just hoping to get convincing arguments in favor of the the lift. I haven't told the little woman about the impending purchase, so I need all the ammunition in favor of it I can get.

I've been looking into them as well. Nice product. My option list probably looks like Targetchaser's. Nice product.

I'm back for more punishment.

Well my friend you were good enough to convince her to get the ZO6. You should have not problem explaining that with the lift you can perform a lot of the maintenance yourself which will quickly pay for the lift. And save the aggravation of dealing with the stealership.

Convincing her about the Z06 was easy. Owning a new Corvette has been my dream since I was little. But convincing her about the tools I need for maintenance is another thing. She doesn't understand spending money in this arena.

Just bought a Bend Pak 4 foot lift for 1411.00. No more sitting on the concrete for me. But don't have them ship Yellow Freight, the screwed mine up and sent it to Kansas instead of Mpls Mn. Changed exhaust system in about 45 minutes. Love it.

Here is probably a dumb question (as my teachers used to tell me "there are no dumb questions, only dumb people") anyhow, once a car is on a kwiklift I guess you can't get tires off to do brakes and such. Is that correct? I was looking at a 4 post, where you can still jack a car off the lift. Not really sure I would fully utilize a 4 post for the expense though, but not sure a kwiklift is very useful. I don't do a lot of heavy wrenching, just too busy these days, but it would be handy for some work.

No that is not correct. You can use a bottle jack placed on the lift just under the lifting point of the car. Or you can use kwiklift's center bridge to place jacks elseware.

Hey guys, I have a question!

The guy above who posted about the bendpak lift,..well, I looked at their site...and they have what they call pit-lifts..
these are designed for oil changes, lubes, stuff like that where you have a pit you drive the car over.

Now,these lifts allow up to 38 inch unobstucted open clearance, you can drive right up and over them, and they will lift the frame up to 26 or 29 inches.( I just forgot which it was)I believe in collapsed position they are 4" high, which makes it workable for lowered vettes on stock bolts
For my car( with under 5 inches of clearance) this means the frame will be 1 inch higher than a quicklift (if you use the 26 " height number minimally).because the quicklift is a 20" platform +5 "=25"

So, the question is, given this info, why isn't this a better lift than the quiklift..I mean when lifted, wheels are already off the ground, plus it is hydraulic and cost relatively the same!( by the time you add all the goodies)

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this,so what am I missing here?
Think I'll just start my own thread,,,DOH!

We are discussing this on another thread. But basically the pit lifts are not connected to each other and unless bolted to the floor could possibly move, creating an unsafe condition. My suggestion is to connect a couple support arms to the base of the pit lifts on each end. Thus allowing them to keep a specific distance between each other and also providing some lateral support.

But the wife will just come back with
"it's a new car, what maintenance do you need to do to a new car"
and
"isn't that covered by warranty"
then there is
"whats a mod?"

The Z06 is the easy part...

THink of it this way; The Kwik-lift will last a lifetime. If you want something different later you can always sell it. I think you would realize a pretty good price for it. I wouldn't be without mine. In fact, before I put any other mods in or on my car, I bought the Kwik-lift. I don't have problems with morons trying to lift my Vette. I don't have problems with ding-dongs screwing up common servicing just because I can't get under my car easily. They're well made, just buy them and be done with it!

A voice of reason, couldn't have said it better myself although I have tried.

As for reason to buy. YOu can change your oil & filter for about $25. I know you are frugal, and that's a good thing so you probably know how to get your oil at good prices.

If you have been taking the car for oil changes to a dealer or to any shop, there's some difference there.

The Kwiklift however in my opinion is NOT good for pulling the wheels off the car. I never remove wheels while on the Kwiklift, so if that part is important, that's a downside to this lift. It CAN be done, but not easily.
