Default CD Player...is this normal?

I have the stock radio with CD and when I hit a bump the cd will skip. Never had this happen in any other car. Anyone else have this?

Never had this with the head unit, only if I was playing a disc in the rear changer.

I've not had that problem in my two years with the Vette.

If your player has had a lot of use the laser could be getting weak .

Try running a CD lens cleaner. The lens might just be dirty and not reading the disc correctly all the time. At least this is a cheap thing to try to solve your problem.

Had that happen for the first time the other day...I have the changer in the back (no head unit). My guess is that the CD is flawed though.

Only on my rear changer & only when a "shock" (severe bump) occurs.

Haven't had it happen yet and I've had two different Vettes with the 12 disc changer. <crossed fingers>

Thanks for all the replies. I bought a new cd to see what would happen and it was fine! Guess it is just that some of my old cd's are worn out.

Same here. My changer was just installed about two weeks ago and skips when I hit jarring bumps. I wanted the unit installed in the right rearmost hatch storage compartment, not the larger middle one. They said it might skip more often there because it's closer to the wheel-well. The skipping doesn't really bother me (it's not constant) and the disc picks up playing again at the spot it left off.
