Default Help--Air Box Mod

I just received my 2nd mod last night from UPS. How hard is the Z06 air box and K+N filter to install? Does any one have any step by step directions? Any potential problems that I have to be aware of?

My first mod, the Hurst shifter, went in with no problems with the forum's help.

It's easy. Just pop off the old lid, install filter and put on the Z06 lid and snap it back together. Do a search and you will find instructions. If you take a moment to look things over you will find it is very easy. By the way, I did that mod a month ago and it definitely made a difference.

Remove the air filter and tray, use an allen wrench (not sure what size but small) to remove the two bolts on the front of the lid and remove lid. To install, exact opposite. Very easy.

Default air lid for z06

i got a 2004 and purchased a z06 air lid. i thought i read that there were rubber grommets holding the stock air lid on. i double check for the alan wrench , i couldn't get that lucky if they were bolted on thanks

There are rubber spacers that fit the holes on the lower air box that I guess are there to keep from rubbing but their are two small bolts that go through those rubber spacers/grommets you have to remove with either a alan wrench or a torx wrench to remove the plastic air box lid.

There is no need to remove the allen bolts. By gently pulling the air lid forard towards the front of the car, the cover should pull right off over top the pegs.

Prior to installing the new lid, I put a little soapy water on the rubber grommets of the new lid and pushed it right back over the 2 pegs on the car. Replacing the lid should be about a 5 -10 minute job.

the box is held on with TROX not alan. Put a cover on the fender and motor. pull out the old filter. stand on you head with a trouble light and find the trox ( two of them ) screws inside the rubber grommets inside the box. Get them out. some say that you can just pull the cover out, I would not. I used a small 1/4 inch socket wrench converted to hold the trox. have band aids and TWO kinds of alcohol ready you will need both.

Did it two weeks ago, simply pull the box out with a little persuasion. The rubber grommetts will pull off the two torx head shafts. Very easy, 5-10 minute job.

Torx or Alan wrench will work. I removed mine initially thinking they were Alan but once I had them out I noticed they were Torx. If you dont have Torx, Alan wrenches will work just fine.

I just did the same mod. It just popped off after I removed the filter.
