Default C5 purchase advise needed...

Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase a C5 in the near future. I have owned several corvettes over the years and currently own a 1966 coupe. I have never owned a C5. I am interested in a 2001-2003 coupe. What advise would you give me as to how to inspect these cars.

Thanks to all...

Take an experienced Vette owner with you! Or just loiter around here and soak up some knowledge. That's actually probably the best. That way you'll learn about the Vettes and know which questions to ask.

Shop for 2003 with lowest milage available.
Check for wear and tear on interior of the car.
Check for wear on rear tires. Could be an indicator of how hard the car has been driven. A 2003 with less than 10k should not need new rubber unless someone with a heavy foot has driven it.
I would look at the condition of the engine compartment. If under hood area has been detailed you can bet the owner has taken care of the car overall.
Of course the paint should be pristine.
Take VIN # to Chevy dealer to obtain Maintence history.
I won't buy a used vette that has had internal engine work done to increase hp. I would want to have that work completed to my specs.
This is some of the criteria I would follow. I hope this helps. I'm no expert on this board but I think this is how I would proceed if I were you. I also agree that if you Lurk here long enough you'll form your own opinions on how to shop for a used vette.

I will add look for the cleanest, newest low mileage car you car afford. Look beyound your normal limits. If you can fly to a car to check it out do it and if its what your looking for drive it home. If its not just what you are looking for walk away. Make a list of what you really want and don't want on your Vette. Do some searching on this site. Every question has been answered by the pors here. Best of luck your gona love it and keep the 66 if you can-Sweat
